puffilee387: Hello guys, I just got approved of my F1 visa today and it was God and always God. It was the Black VO at the first booth. She was nice and a bit patient. I actually have a valid B1 visa that will expire Next year august but she never mentioned nor asked about it.
My challenge is that my sch will be resuming 21st of august and I shd be there before august 19th but I have pressing family matters which may not allow me resume about the time I was asked to resume. I spoke with me school and they say it is ok for me to resume late which could be 27th of august and they say they will furnish me a letter to that effect if the need will be. My fear is at the port of entry could this be a challenge?
Please advice....

you are a man na, why fear fear lol. dont worry, the letter will do wonders. get the letter from your school asap and make sure your get the US on the date stated. goodluck

Regarding changing location of embassy, I really don't think it's necessary, I feel you would get your visa on your next try... Just tell it to God..

imperiouxx: There is always no crime in holding B1/B2 and applying for a F1. In fact, it enhances your chance. The problem is thinking your F1 visa would be granted while you are still on B1/B2 in the US. I argued this with someone here before (I can't remember that thread member anymore).

The VO asked if she has registered for classes to nail her.

The rule says you MUST never enrolled in classes before your F1 is approved while you're on visiting or tourism visa in the US.

imperrioux, like we all know VOs are different and it depends on how you nail the question i still believe saying you registered for classes already always help, vo asked me same question and i didnt even prepare for that question, i just said yes and he said i should list the classes, well as a qualified student i mentioned the classes even though i wasnt sure and the interview was over and i got d visa. some visa interview end immediately and still VOs try to ask more question to see if they can still approve you, for me i think when you having your interview around aug and early september for fall, i think the person should say they registered for classes already, its like a commitment. all in all, what works for A, might not work for B

This was the passport i used to apply for admission, although the old passport will expire this month end, which made me applied the new one which i have with me now. I have an affidavit and a police report. My interview is nextweek
Do i need to notify the school?
Hope there wont be a problem if i go to the embassy with the new passport, affidavit and police report?

Another thing is my mum is co-sponsoring me, can i go with her personal bank statement which reflects the returns we make on my late Dads property, though the transaction and balance on the account is very huge instead of going with the company's account which the balance is lower.

its not a problem, if you havent submited your ds160, just edit the passport number and on the appointment booking page also you do same. affidavit or watever, you still need to edit it, it wont take you anything to fill a new ds160 if you submitted already.
Go with your mom account, going with the company account will make it look more like you spending the whole company money on yourself plus i still remember your question, i doubt if your course is in anyway related to what the company do. so your mom account and yours is berra

Rijo02: Zee....I opened with Bank of America. I think they are pretty good. Got my acct number, Debit Card, online banking and transactions within 15minutes. There customer service is awesome. If ur on assistantship and u will be expecting direct deposit, you gona need a checking account. But you can still have a checking acct but there are charges that accrues if you dont maintain a minimum balance of $1500 or your above 23yrs or have a direct deposits of $250 monthly.
I asked for a credit card but I was told am not qualified yet. I understand shaa.

feexo, you mean 1.8 atfer evaluation. i doubt if he/she can get. if its 1.8/4 then you can buffer it with good gre score and sop but still i doubt if it can work. 1.8 is like a pass or letter of attendance

They will ask for your SSN and some kind of documents new comers might find hard to get. And they will ask that you must maintain a minimum balance of $500 in your savings and checking account every month.

transit visa is different from airline stopover, if its your airline thats making you stop in uk, then no wahala but if you want to get into uk for some days, then u need the transit visa

I do t-mobile and its $40 for 500mb , unlimited calls and sms in the US. For the $50 for 1G, unlimited calls and sms in the US. I use the $40 because I got wifi in my apartment and most places I go. So u can do the 40 or the 50. Then to call naija, I buy the $5 boss revolution and I can speak for 2hrs.
