Celebrities / How Media Demolished My Relationship - Sean Tizzle by zemn: 9:07am On Aug 07, 2016
Morihanfe Oluwaseun Oluwabamidele otherwise known as Sean Tizzle says Nigerian media demolished his association with Dj Cuppy who he prefers for some reasons and was truly squashing on. Portions from what he told TheNation

It was rumoured that you were in a relationship with Dj Cuppy…

No, we were not dating. She’s just my friend and we are cool like that. People just took it wrong, although I like her for so many things.

Were you crushing on her?

Yes, I was.

Did you express it to her?

I told her before but she was in school then and she was trying to focus on her education. When the media put that out she didn’t take it too lightly and that kind of affected the relationship. But me I go go work that work to come tell her back say what’s up girl, can we do it again?

You were once accused of bleaching your skin…

The media just come out with a lot of unconfirmed reports. You don’t know me from anywhere and you just decide to criticise me. I never bleached my skin. Before the fame, I used to be this guy that likes editing pictures because I thought that it would make me look fresh which was the same mistake I made with the pictures I posted then. I posted a picture that I edited that same way as it was already a part of me to use filters on my pictures but unluckily for me it backfired and people assumed that I bleached my skin. Sebi na me you dey see so, I resemble person wey bleach? So now I just drop my pictures the way it is now, I don’t edit anymore.

How often do you club?

I club once in a while. Emi ti mo bi ile seri se ti awon obi mi barimi se won ni ma wo npe se omo nka ti onse bayi (I know where I am coming from, what if my parents see me popping, won’t they ask if I haven’t gone astray?)

Does that mean you’re scared of your parents?

No, it’s not a part of me because of the way I was raised. Clubbing wasn’t that much back then unlike now that you have clubs almost everywhere.

Why didn’t you renew your deal with MTN?

I don’t even know what happened but what I have to say is that I have to put in more work on myself.

All things considered, what would I be able to say; I felt embarrassed that a government foundation like Futo has one of the most noticeably awful street in elected colleges. Futo students who are stays off grounds endure while trekking or biking to class. Measurement has it that 75% of Futo students live in this specific spot (Eziobodo) in light of the fact that it's more secure and near school. Yet, the state of the street is poor to the point that amid the down-pouring season, water conceals the street which makes Students to expel their footwear while traverse and some of the time bicycles and vehicles separates amidst the water. We engage the Federal government to take care of this spot.

Nairaland / General / Policemen Steals, Have Sex With Us Without Protection - Nigerian Prostitutes Lam by zemn: 12:23pm On Jun 17, 2016
Policemen steals, have sex with us without protection - Nigerian prostitutes lament

A community based organization of sex workers, Ohotu Diamond Women Initiative (ODWI) has called on the Nigerian Police to stop abuse on prostitutes.

In a statement made available to newsmen, the organization lamented how prostitutes suffer abuse from the Nigerian Police Officers who force them to have sex without any norm of protection or common condom N50.

“Thirty percent of sex workers interviewed told researchers that they had been threatened with violence by police officers, while 27% actually experienced violence at the hands of police. Reported incidents included officers physically grabbing and kicking, as well as beating them; one incident of rape; one woman was stalked by a police officer; and throwing food at one subject. Sexual harassment included handling of body parts; giving women cigarettes in exchange for sex; and police offering not to arrest sex workers in exchange for sexual services.

“Several times the Police have raided our hotels beating, stealing and having sex with us without protection.”

In a bid to curtail the abuses sex workers suffer from Policemen, the Executive Director of Safe Haven Development Initiative, Margaret Onah has criticised the method of which Policemen uses to extort money from sex workers and abuse.

According to Onah, the Nigerian Policemen are not mindful of the fundamental human rights that should be accorded to sex workers.

“It is dehumanising when Policemen abuses, sex workers the way they do. We are using this channel to voice out our pains in the course of survival. The government needs to do something about it. It is better if sex workers are charged to court than naming them, harassing them, stealing their money, stealing their properties, and having sex with them unprotected.”

Speaking on what could be done to end the abuse by Policemen, she said:

“the Police needs to re-strategise. The fact that sex work is illegal doesn’t mean that they should kill anyone find doing the job.

“Sex workers are citizen of this country first of all, and they need to be respected like every other citizen.”

Speaking on harassment faced with Policemen, Esther Eghosa said:

“Time without numbers, the Policemen break our doors to start packing us like goats to the station. If you don’t have money to bail yourself, they will say they want to sleep with you unprotected which is very bad.

Eghosa, who is a sex worker further stress, “As a woman in the brothel, we protect ourselves, we use condoms, but with the Policemen, you don’t have a say.”

Nairaland / General / How I Was Robbed Of N45000 by zemn: 11:32pm On Mar 15, 2016
This story is based on true experience that happened to a lib reader last week

On a hot Tuesday morning, I took a bike from my lodge which is at Ezibodo, in Futo University. On getting to the bank, I told the bike man to wait for me so that he can take me to where I can use the money, while withdrawing, I didn't notice the bike man was monitoring me. After I have withdrawn the money (45000), not knowing that the bike man had called his fellow mate to pretend like a passenger. I entered the bike and the other guy entered too. I notice the bike man were not taking the right direction, so I told the bike man to stop, before I knew what was happening, the guy behind me pointed a gun at me and told me to keep quite. I kept quite in fear. They took me to Nekede Polytechnic where they beat me and asked me to eat the food they bought for me, I ate it in fear, not knowing the food has been drugged. I started to misbehave, they even made me eat grass. The money I withdrawn earlier, they collected it from me and also took my phone. Before I was finally freed, one of the robber gave me N3000 to return back to school and told me that the reason why he gave me the money was because, he knows my brother from somewhere. I took the money from him, instead of going back to school I went straight to Port Harcourt that same day.

But I thank God I am alive to tell this story. Please learn from my experience.

Music/Radio / What Exactly Does Wizkid, Flavour, Phyno, Olamide Have In Common? by zemn: 9:18pm On Mar 15, 2016
What exactly does Wizkid, Flavour, Phyno, Olamide have in common? [That makes them a successful musician?] PART 1

Nigeria boasts of many successful artistes who have won several international and local awards. These musicians make millions, drive expensive cars and live in luxury houses. They go on tours to different countries and bag multi-million naira endorsement deals.

But how exactly did they make it? Why do they stand out when there are thousands of talented, upcoming musicians who have been trying for years to attain stardom but are still in the streets? In fact, the big question is ‘what exactly do these stars all have in common?’

Well, the answer is…nothing. Yes, nothing. So that brings us to our first point.

Be Unique

Have you ever heard the beat at the beginning of a song, and even before the artiest voice comes up, you correctly guess whose song it is? Yes, it happens because these musicians discovered their niches and decided to base their music on it. It’s almost impossible to mistake a song by Phyno for Flavour’s or Psquare. Likewise, you can’t hear Olamide’s song and mistake it for Burna Boy’s or Dbanj or hear Wizkid and mistake it for Davido even though they are both Yoruba singers and MI for Ice Prince (Hausa rappers). There’s just this uniqueness to their music that makes your mind categorize them differently as the bests in their particular style. Phyno raps in Ibo, Olamide raps in Yoruba, Burna boy bases on afro beat, Flavour, highlife, Patoranking reggae, Wizkid and Davido sing pop but if you listen to both musicians you will definitely agree that their styles are different. Even Terry G is based on…..ughm, lets say…madness. You might call it noise, but then, he made millions from his mad/noise music. Why? Because he wasn’t trying to copy anybody! He just did his mad singing and there was no one competing with him in that type of music. These musicians don’t go about imitating each other. Have you ever heard someone say ‘I don’t feel like listening to Olamide, please play Phyno’ or am tried of listening to Wizkid’s songs, play Psquare or Davido! People will not say stuffs like that if all these musicians sound alike.

That’s the little problem between Olamide and Lil Kesh. Yes, I agree they both wonderful artiest, good at what they do. But have you ever asked between Olamide and Lil Kesh, who is better?’ Most people (probably over 80%) will vote for Olamide. Why? because 1. There songs sound very much alike. 2. Lil Kesh is Olamide’s brought up, and 3. Olamide entered the game before Lil Kesh. But the most important thing to note there is that, their songs are alike. Unlike in the case of Olamide and Phyno, or Wizkid and Davido, where you’ll have roughly 50/50 split. Just think about it.

Now let’s take a look at Kiss Daniel. Have you ever wonder what so special about Woju? Why did it become a major hit? Well I’ll tell you. That kind of beat was not mainstream or in vogue at the time the song was released. Kiss Daniel didn’t opt for a remark of Davido’s Aye or Mavin’s Dorobucci. He simply went to the studio, got a nice new beat and shocked us all. He came up with is own stuff. And that’s why it’s just a sorry sight to see lots and lots of talented upcoming musicians try to get popular by using beats that are clearly roughly cut out beats of already popular songs, maybe just a little modification or those screaming Wizkid’s signatures, yaayi! Or Yaga! You are only popularizing Wizkid style, not introducing yours. When people hear that, they don’t say who sang this song? The music is good! Instead, they are like, ‘I love this song. Wizkid is really good’, without even realizing that it’s your song.

So I guess you should think twice next time before going to the studio and ask your producer to give you ‘ that Patoranking’s my woman’ beat for your next track.

Nairaland / General / Cause Of Recent Intense Heat In Nigeria (must Read) by zemn: 12:31pm On Mar 10, 2016
Over the past few weeks, Nigeria has experienced extraordinary severe sunlight and heat. We’ve had to move about with umbrellas or handkerchiefs and consume sachets of ‘pure’ water or bottle water, anything to make the heat bearable. We have to sleep wearing light cloths so as to make the midnight sweating a little more bearable.

There’s even a standing joke that the cause of this severe heat is because the last person to go into hell had refused to close the doors. Sometimes last, month, a Nigerian wrote an open letter to the sun, pleading that it reduce its intensity on account of how It was unarguably the hottest thing on the planet and without competition.

So the real question is what exactly is the cause of this sudden rise in temperature?
Well, the answer is simple.” Global warming”.
We may have heard of the phrase ‘global warming’ during our primary or secondary school education.
Global warming is the process whereby the temperature of the earth (global) increases due to the depletion of the ozone layer. The Ozone layer is a sort of cover that shields the earth from the direct heat of the sun. But due to the activities of man such as the burning of fossil fuel (petrol, diesel, gas), the ozone layer is being gradually destroyed and the more this continues, the more direct sunlight hits the earth, thereby making the earth hotter.

This has been a major global concerned for quite some time now. Late last year, the United Nations noticing this danger reached impending decision that all its member states must cut down on their consumption of fossil fuel. That decision affected Nigeria adversely because many countries stopped purchasing crude oil from Nigeria and that has led to the rise in the valve of dollar when compared to Naira.

But in spite of its disadvantage, the down cut in the use of fossil fuel might actually be saving lives. It will help reduce air pollution, flood rate and other life threatening hazards.

17 best way to treat a woman by actor John Dumelo (Must Read)
My view on how to treat women.

1. Don't compare your wife to other women. You don't know what their husbands are going through.

2. Never expose your wife's weakness to your family or friends or run to them whenever you have issues problems are best solved between you and your woman.

3. Don't think you are man so you can use intimidation, shout or violent to communicate your moods. Aggressive men don't make a happy home.

4. Speak gently and calmly to your wife. Never raise your voice at her, it demeans her and shows you think she is stupid.

5. Do your responsibilities as men... don't leave every to your woman.

6. Never blame your wife if she doesn't take care of the home everyday. She is swamped with house work and helping you raise the kids.

7. Don't be wasteful spending money on drinks, friends and extended family. The wife and children are your first responsibility.

8. Sex is also important to women. Her pleasure should be considered before your own.

9.Never compare your wife to your ex-girlfriends. If you loved them so much why didn't you marry them instead of your wife.

10. Never shout down your wife or challenge her in front of the children. The children are watching. They won't listen and obey her too.

11. Tell your wife she's beautiful even if you know she's looking normal. Women love compliment.

12. Don't forget that women also want attraction and someone to share their thoughts with. Never be too busy for your wife.

13. A prayerful man is a better equipped husband. Pray always for your wife and family. Don't leave the prayers to your wife.

14. Treat your wife like a queen. Buy her gifts, take her shopping and once in a while, cook for her.

15. Please don't forget your these anniversary dates. Wedding, engagement, the first time you kissed. I beg you. These dates means a lot to women. (Don't ask me why). I also don't know.

16. Your mother should not have a final say in your marriage. You married your wife, not you and your mother. Let her talk in her own husband's house.

17. There are 5 days each month that you have to say "I'm sorry", "yes baby" and "I love you" more than 7 times a day. That's when she's menstrating.
