Seems Fidelity Managed to pull it off..
Probably First to take off advantage

https://punchng.com/n127bn-fidelity-bank-capital-raise-oversubscribed-ceo/
That's 13b new shares added to the existing 32b, when listed, to bring the whole thing to 45b OS.
And the CEO said this's only the first phase of money raising (read the story).

This's what's weighing the banking sector, and by extension the entire market, down and not the windfall tax as many think. Windfall tax is a one-off on the 2023 account only, and as at H1 '24 the banks are still posting mega profit which should have been making the sector bullish.
But my theory is that many investors are staying away from the banks for money raising to run it's course.
Then for the overbloated shares to be reconstructed. Then for some corrections and bottoming out to occur, before a mighty bull seizes the market.

Whether you understand it or not, scarcity of shares is a factor of its own in price action. Bank stocks cannot rally, no matter the profits they post, if people are bringing ship loads of the shares to the market every day.

Random question here. What determines who is placed as a chairman of a listed company e.g. Lafrage, Presco, MTN, e.t.c. would this be the largest shareholder, or maybe 'one' of the largest shareholders who gets voted up? Thanks!
This's also a random answer, based solely on reasoning and commonsense, and I could be wrong. I've never read any investment book in my life.

I think it's as you're probably thinking, the largest shareholder OR anybody chosen, hand-picked, nominated, backed, recommended by him/her, even if the candidate has not a single share of his or her own.

If I'm right, then the chairman must be the largest shareholder or his/it's boy/gal/represetative.

Sorry, the use of words that mean the same is just for play, as I'm not writing any Jamb exam.

Criticism for selling his stock, and then badmouthing the stock?
Those who are easily upset by such antics should better hand over their money to an asset manager.

Oando has no business selling under #100 if it remains listed.

Entry below #100 is ground floor, if not taken PRIVATE BY POWERFUL INTERESTS.

The only DD needed is to beware of it being taken PRIVATE because, goldmine..

The person who gave this biz the name SPECULATION was a genius. The Oando situation now is rather very simple. IF delisting has now died a natural death, then OANDO buyers have not even come to market yet. With the latest acquisition, Oando sits on a bigger reserve of crude oil (plus power plant) than Seplat, and sells at a little fraction of Seplat's market capitalisation, larger debt not withstanding.

I thought dangote have already imported crude from US and Brasil. I expected him to start sell from those refinered crude pending supply from NNPC
Imported what quantity of crude, that's the matter.
Crude for 2 days, or 3 ?
The Refinery has oceanic appetite for crude; 650,000 barrels per day.
The biggest sngle-train refinery in the world.
(I don't know what is single-train).
Even the Government is pledging to supply only half of that.

I am developing what I will call NSEMPA Sentiment Index. Over the weekend I will go through all posts and count the number of times a stock is mentioned, and whether a buy or sell if indicated. Other parameters can be added later in further development. This will give a small weekly data base from which I will develop some form of an indicator to guide people as to which stocks are hot, and so on. In further development one may take the data daily and have periodic totals and averages. This system is commonly used in search engines, polling and market survey software.

So before I go on with it I want to know what people think about the idea. Is it a sensible, workable, or a stupid useless idea? Is someone already doing this or something similar? What may you add to make it better?

I will add that I do have a bit of free time since I am not working for anyone right now.
I don't know what your work is, but I know what it's not, stupid. Please remove Oando from the survey because it's own hotness is hyperlative, therefore abnormal. The Lord reinforce you with the strength.

By reducing the shares via buyback, eps will increase.
What if buyback, and/or reconstruction is to make room for the new shares to be created in sector recapitalization.
To mimic the banking sector, insurance capital base is to be raised from 3b to 25b.
And, given their low prices, imagine the zillions of new shares to be minted to achieve that.

The 8% interest is yearly, not monthly.
But the payment can be piecesed to you monthly if you want. It's called the High Interest Deposit Account (HIDA).
What you're looking for is a wonder bank.

Even FCMB that posted fantastic result is down... OANDO holding forte... great things in the horizon by God's grace
Banks don't do solo bulls, no matter the bullish news.
Since the Global Financial Meltdown. They all sink together or swim together.
In fact in the entire market, OANDO, to my observation, is the only stock that still attempts to sustain a little solo rally when it enters its head. All others do gentle, gradual appreciation over time, when their circumstances are positive.

It was before Global Financial Crisis of 2008 that one stock on the NSE could just take off and add 5% daily for 2 weeks or more irrespective of how others were faring.

better than Transcorp.

Transcorp hotel
EPS is 65k, floor price N98.40, Price to earning ratio is 158x

Ikeja
EPS is 62k, floor price is N7.10, Price to earning ratio is 11x
Somethings sell at a premium to it's peers for no apparent reason. In this case, it could be because transcorp belongs in a tortoise ecosystem, in mankind's speak, while ikeja stands alone. The day one useless board comes over ikeja, your investment will get catarrh. But it's a great buy right now if you can see it.

The regulator that decides, NUPRC, had announced officially on July 3, that the deal is 100% complete. This carries more weight in my estimation.
What Oando and ENI are saying does not add anything new to what NUPRC had said 3 weeks earlier.
Hence, this is still old news.
My people want a new bull. We want one bull for the NUPRC approval, one for the OANDO Press Release and yet another for the Reuters Reporting of the same news.

I don't think it's a good idea to dump money in individual stocks and walk away for 20 years, especially Nigerian stocks. It is better to choose an ETF or an actively managed index fund.
That was the message I coded in my humorous way.

Sure, many roads lead to the Church, but the operative word, like you said, is constant monitoring to know when one useless manager has started reducing your company to an empty shell.

Thanks very much. I am just dumping money on the stocks to return after a minimum of 20 years. I don’t have plans getting into trading.

I just need a platform which you have listed for me, to have records and monitor its performance. I think I will go with Trove. It gets mentioned often on this thread.

Thanks very much!
Please spread your money dumping over many stocks (coys).
If in 20 years a few of them end the way of Oceanic, Finbank etc, or fall under the hammer of regulatory delisting, you fall back on the rest.

And while we're at it please remember to dump on my portfolio too.
Some of my current positions are transpower, Oando and Eti.

Stdinsure and evansmed are not recommended, but if you help me wake them from coma, many thanks.

I don't know o. I didn't even know that this one existed. Nairametrics was the only media in Nigeria that knew about it. Check back the recent pages, there's somebody who explained the two dates. But it's not likely that Oct.10 will counter this one.

Still gamble
A Big Gamble, no matter how some people hate hearing reality check that help some other people err on the side of caution.

Oando remains a gamble because the cloud of Delisting still hovers over it.
All that Court did was to order the cowboy to go and reach accord with the minorities.

This is victory for shareholders because it strengthens their negotiating hand against the cowboyz. For one, #7.07 delisting is dead and buried because accord cannot be reached on that term.
But, on the bad side for shareholders, the rigging of shareholder votes is the easiest thing in the world..

So, all eyes now on Wale's Desk for his response to the Court outcome.

* If he announces an immediate shareholders meeting venued at the edge of Sambisa Forest or at Yankari Game Resort or on Gembu Plateau Resort overlooking Cameroun, in Gongola State, then he will get his ratification for delisting.

*But if there is a Press Release declaring
that Shareholders Meeting is no longer necessary because
Delisting is no longer on the table, then the Oando stock Bus will turn to a Rocket and soar over #100, other things being equal.

In the absence of this renunciation of delisting, even the Deal Signing Event somebody is smelling above will not produce more than a 2 days bull.

IMO, the bolded is the issue we have as a nation.

EVERY individual or business has a phase of baby steps: that does not mean that someday they will not walk and eventually run.
No business hits the ground running without adequate support.

What Dangote has done (building a refinery of that capacity) goes beyond what most Nigerians can fully understand.

There is an endless list of home-grown businesses that had life snuffed out of them BECAUSE we wanted quality from foreign countries.

Those foreign quality products once started poorly too... wink
Okay, KarlTom, if I understand this;
You pump baby steps petrol into your tank;
All in the name of import substitution nationalism;
And your car starts doing baby steps along the road;
Is that what will take Nigeria to the promised Land?
Cars doing baby steps along the road, because driven with baby steps petrol?

Standards, upon Quality, from day one!
grin grin

Pure junk of a drunken street post. Some people around have become "yeye people" because delisting risk has somewhat dissipated.
How does caveating on the risk of a company's delisting constitute an attack on some person's destiny, or even an attack on the juiciness of the company?
