What does "initiate" stands for or mean? The first to make a move or request. Was it Oando that made the first request to the Court or they responded to an initial request ?
Leave godlyguy, I know him well. His game is scaring people to drop their Oando for him. grin

mikeapollo:
To my understanding, the Oando court case coming up in October is between the 14 minority shareholders who went to court to ask for Oando to buy out their shares. The Court has varied it's easier order dated June 2022: so only those 14 minority shareholders will have their shares bought back if they still want to sell to Oando at N7.07 per share. . Other minority shareholders are not affected and their shares are intact. Some 5 minority shareholders went to court to challenge the 14 shareholders and the court gave judgement in favour of the 5 shareholders, saying that all minority shareholders cannot be forced to sell their shares. As it stands right now, Oando is not delisting. If the 14 shares sell their shares, Oando will buy them back but will still be listed because the company did not initiate the idea to delist its shares, it only had to respond to the case brought by the 14 shareholders . And that case has been technically shut down by the court. The case coming up in October is just for formality. It is already dead case.
Thanks for the explanation.
I lost my fear of delisting after the
Bawa-nairametrics-ogg Court ruling, and jumped in at km 18.
I further topped up in the 20s, and the rest has been history.
Thanks for the insight.
In this biz, the only certainty is uncertainty.
But thus far the going has been great.
Oando has been a mighty blessing to many, through God's mercy.
I've sold some and still sit on some.
Let's see how it goes.

Greetings, mikeapollo.
Please what is the nature of the court case coming up in October, if still any ? Is it still of any threat or serious risk to Oandites, in your opinion?

People selling shoes in the market do not just talk shoes, shoes all day long.
Humans are not made that way.
Sometimes when they're not attending to customers, they do lift up their heads from the grim business of making money to talk about the weather, football, politics, romance etc.
Those of you who cannot appreciate, tolerate or enjoy a little comic relief once in a while are "Al Baghl and Bomboclat". grin grin

Can you share the link. What was transcorp power PAT since they have the same capacity. Is the oando power plant linked to the national grid. All my questions here are for sincere purposes because I don't have idea about them
These things are info freely available in the public domain, especially transpower H1 report released a few weeks ago with interim dividend. Pls use your Google.

Total asset minus total liabilities will give you the net asset.

The banks and other financiers have the first claim to the reported power plants and reserves.

The net asset gives a better picture of business
Manie, this bolded remark is same of Dangote Refinery, Seplat and others. What do you think the banks were invented for?
All heavy business operations run on bank funding. Nobody funds acquisitions/businesses on this scale out of pocket.

emmanuelewumi:
How come you did not consider the liabilities. Subtract the liabilities so that we can have the net asset
But first factor in the Oando power plants of equal MW capacity with transpower which has just reported 37b Q2 PAT, in case you want to say that power plants don't make money.

* Seplat and Oando have roughly equal crude oil capacity.
* Both are heavily indebted, but Oando's debts are heavier.
* On the other hand Oando has power plant and Seplat hasn't.

So what did you use to arrive at the fair value since what fundamentals or sentiments says is not necessary. Did you consult an oracle
There is another one called sixth-sense analysis. It is higher than all these others, including street-sense analysis.

(1) 50,000 barrels of crude oil daily.
(2) Unknown trillion cubic feet of gas.
(3) 1,490 kilometres of pipelines.
(4) 3 Gas Processing Plants.
(5) The Brass River Oil Terminal.
(6) The KwaleOkpai power plants with a combined capacity of 960 MW.
(Geregu= 435 MW by contrast) .
(7) Top Guy possible connection.

Please note that item No. 7 alone is a thermonuclear fundamental strength in itself.

Note also that the Afreximbank does not hand out $783 million lightly, or to all comers, but must have conducted a thermonuclear due diligence before funding these acquisitions.

Oando at #200 is ground floor, by sixth sense analysis.

Oando cannot command the same sentiments in South Africa as in Nigeria because South Africans do not know crude oil as we do.
Is there anybody here who cannot point at one billionaire or more from his State who are rumored to have made it through the "lifting of crude oil" ?
Nigeria is a petro-dollar nation, SA is not, to my awareness. So many Nigerians who have grown tired of dreaming of laying hand on NNPC Term Contract to market crude oil, let alone grabbing an oil block, are seizing opportunity to snap up the shares of Oando while it's still affordable.
The South Africans, meanwhile, are probably disecting Oando through Ewumi-style forensic analysis and, seeing no dividends in the near term, are valueing it accordingly.

When Oando shall start dishing out dividends, it may be highly profitable for dividend hunters to to go and load it that place because I believe the payouts will be the same in currency equivalence giving that the buy out proposal for the attempted Delisting was the same 7.07 or equivalent.

Hehehe..... I will only send him 5% tithe because before his prophesy came, I had already had my own conviction that OANDO would do wonders sooner or later after Tinubu was sworn into office. His prophesy only came to reinforce my conviction. So it was a 50:50 job between us. Though before Tinubu became president, I wouldn't touch OANDO with a 100m long pole, and once he is out of Aso Rock, the romance between OANDO and me ends straight away.

For those of us here looking for what to buy today,C&I leasing is not for everyone today and possibly this week sha.

This Abbey Mortgage is never for everyone. It is highly illiquid but a good stock to hold. You need a good lecture on how to acquire illiquid stocks.

Start buying CHAMS from this morning.Dont miss it.I repeat,DONT MISS IT.

Stop envying those in Oando. They deserve the reward. Not everyone can gamble oando.Let them eat the fruit of their labour. It is a #200 and above stock.Unless Tinubu is not our president again.

May you be blessed today.

Back to my cave for observations.
The Big Guy may be a mighty Godfather to the Oando empire today.
But the go-getter vision pre-existed with the Cowboy, hence the ConocoPhilips acquisition under Jonathan.

Baba Market has risen to Right-Price Oando.

Or is it the general market bull you're talking about?
The index turned positive yesterday, and the market follows after the index. That became the trend since after the 2008 markets meltdown.
If you've missed on CI Leasing, you'll get it tomorrow or next when the index drops.

As for Oando, it's a lawless bull that obeys no trend.

Wale dey send bnsitl to bond market with heavy loot. Here is a sudden tribute to Wale Tinubu :

He brought the first crude oil stock, with the super strong sentiments around it, to the NGX. Thereby, albeit indirectly, he brought the elite crude oil biz into the grasp of the common man.

Though yet to pay dividend, let me tell you, from the days of ConocoPhilips negotiations to date, I have made more money from Oando JIJO than, I believe, if Oando were paying me dividends.
The fascist intolerance of the diversity of opinion must die here.
Therefore, to celebrate this AgipDeal signing, l seize the liberty to re-post this tribute..

My only issue with Oando in the short term is the move, if there is still any, to take it private.
Short of that, I will be posting similar sentiments about Oando in the foreseeable future and those incensed at seeing them should simply jump over the post or hit their own 'submit' button.

Hahaha, manie, both optimists and pessimists have their place in the market. So, you Oando pessimists are highly welcome.
My chief concern with Oando right now is delisting, which is yet to be officially renounced.
Because no matter how increasingly unlikely it's beginning to look, a cowboy with a Big Guy as uncle can pull off many things where other cowboys fail.

So let Oando just remain listed and leave all the other scares for us.

The Agip Acquisition.

The Oando acquisitions process is in stages, and we celebrate every stage with a Bull as follows:

(1) News of the opening of Oando talks with an exiting IOC.....Bull.

(2) News of the completion of negotiations and the reaching of agreement......Bull.

(3) News of Ministerial Approval of the transaction..... Bull.

(4) Signing of the Deal between Oando and the divesting IOC .....Bull.

We're due for stage 4 according to Bagwa.

Not investment advice.

Another point I'd like to make is that there is so much diversity in the market. If you went to Oshodi market today, it's not possible that everyone in the market will have the same mindset, strategy, goals, product to buy or sell etc.
There is no one-size fits all strategy in the market. You need to consider demographics, individual goals, environment etc.
An elderly person approaching retirement will be more risk averse than someone just starting off his career.
A high networth individual will be more concerned about capital preservation and stable income than a low income individual seeking a big break.
A trader will be more active in the market than an investor.
Portfolio or position sizing will determine stocks that an individual can trade. It doesn't matter if a stock will double in two months, it's just too illiquid for some to trade. They won't go there.
Some people just need to buy once or twice in a year and sell once or twice the following year. It may appear they are "missing out" when they are not following your own strategy but investing N200m in one or two highly liquid stock at the right season (after corporate actions or usual yearly lows) and selling at just 50% gain the next year is N100m without any dramas.

Believe it or not, some are not even after growth as such again. They are contented with their portfolio size and just want a regular dividend income to meet their needs.

When you understand this, you would respect people's decisions with their portfolios.
Good morning, bnsitl.
Please read, re-read and be guided.

Anyway, negative this, negative that. Will Oando be pumping 50,000 barrels of black gold daily into the sea, and not into the market? Will it be generating massive darkness from power plants, instead of light?
