Some people on the map scheme paid for meter since last year, haven't receive theirs.

The problem here isnt which scheme is better but how efficient are the discos in giving meters out.

Every discos have been allocated meters, the discos want to make money off them.

No u pay to contract company for meters not to the discos,if u had issues getting meter paid for u can report directly to nerc and it is forwarded to the discos who inturn call the contract company to order.The discos are just trying to manage the issues on behalf of these installation companies most times

It was a government initiative sponsored by them.

National Mass Metering Programme in partnership with central bank are the one sponsoring the project.

It is a win for the discos.

Now that they are slow to funding the project and the demand is increasing everyday with the people having a perception that these meters are being hoarded by the discos hence the map program should be brought back cz people are even now ready to pay for it cz to be truthful MAP project did record lots of improvement

Hello guys,I did stumble on a post shared earlier on "Discos Selling supposed free meters"I feel I should just clarify the information due to the fact that I have some basic information on this.Kindly note that the Mass free metering project is an initiative embarked by the government and also be funded by it,discos do contract meter purchase and acquisition to contract installation firms who after installation are being accepted on the platform for subsequent vending, recharge and fault resolve issues.Now when government initiates a project it is to be funded while application is on going which takes time cz the funding is done in batches,so due to outcry of meters by customers stating readiness to pay the discos now intends running the former MAP payment program side by side so it will be basically your choice to decide on which to undertake.i had to enquire for this and I urge us all as nigerians to do same not jump into conclusions.

Government decided to give free meters under the NNMP project but they haven't funded it cz they have to pay the contract company for the free meter so people keep applying and the contract company will not meter unless is been paid for by the government that decided the program.Now due to ongoing cry from individuals about not getting their meters and stating that they are ready to pay for it the discos decide to give a shot at Customer to pay for meters to contract company while those who want to wait for the free meter program to be funded should wait.

Has the disco ever complied to NERC directive? Weren't they told to resolve power cut from 33kva line within 24hrs or face sanction?

What is the justification here? Imagine a rapidly developing area as big as Obalende not having any transformer ever installed by the disco and you are justifying it.
All transformers were installed through community effort.
We have telecommunication mast been installed in different strategic locations from time to time in accordance with the population expansion, there is also fibre optic cable installation.
You are defending what is not logical in anyway.

Telecom companies are in total control of their brand and service unlike the discos who depend on govt for their brand, telecom companies are liable to govt tru only tax,discos are liable to govt not only through tax but the govt are stakeholders with power to revoke at anytime when deemed so it can't be the same

The fact and accusation from NERC is enough prove. The reality is reduction in supply to many Nigerians. A good example is Benin Electricity Company reducing power supply in their zone. Those in Benin city, Delta and Ondo can attest to this fact

Any transformer subject to load shedding obviously need a replacement with higher capacity or additional ones. Any procurement process that doesn't make provision for efficient acquisition and installation of expansion gadgets for a technological company is faulty.
Are other companies carrying out technical expansion not having procurement process?

So technical expansion don't have financial revenue checks? procurement cost, installation visibility study, background cause checks,tests, logistics,approval,try and see facts of the biz now a private entity not NEPA anymore.

Apparently, no plan for load expansion, because if there is, I see no reason why a developing community will not have any new transformer in 5 to 7yrs.
A responsible organisation plan for expansion from time time and implement it in phases.
We don't tell MTN, Glo, Airtel, etc to expand their network installations before they do, so why do we need to go to discos to request for installation of expansion gadgets?
Shedding is being carried out directly by officials from their office, so they should give necessary feedback

Expansion and growth is a must but there are procurement process to go through,it is an organization and there are rules for replacement.
