The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of conniving with the All Progressives Congress to rig the Ondo governorship election taking place on Saturday (today).

The governor raised the alarm in a statement on Friday.

Fayose, who said democracy had been placed on trial in Ondo State, urged the people to be vigilant, alleging that “the INEC Returning Officers already have fake results that they will announce to Nigerians as they did in Edo State.”

“The sad reality confronting the electoral process in Nigeria today is that apart from the APC, other political parties are now contesting elections against INEC,” he claimed.

Fayose urged the people to go out and vote and stand by their votes.

“They must follow their votes from the polling stations to the ward collation centres, local government collation centres and the State collation centre.”

The governor said information available to him indicated that the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, who was the INEC Returning Officer in the recently concluded Edo State governorship election, would serve as the Returning Officer for the Ondo State election.

Querying the rationale, Fayose said, “The questions that came to my mind were; is Prof Kayode Soremekun the only Vice Chancellor in Nigeria? Is FUOYE the only federal university in Nigeria? Is Ekiti the only state where INEC can find returning officers?

“Definitely, INEC is up to a sinister game in the Ondo State election and it is obvious that the electoral commission is working with the APC.

“This belief was further made manifest by the response of Prof. Soremekun to an SMS and a call, saying that he was only being used as decoy by INEC.

“This was further corroborated by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, who said on television that identities of those to be used as returning officers were being kept secret

I escaped been crushed to death by a trailer on ore-benin express road on 6/11/2016. I was on bike coming from somewhere when the Hausa man rushed to the main road running to cross and maintain the lane before the trailer gets there not knowing the trailer was on full speed. Seeing the trailer behind me made me drop my leg and drop off the bile thereby making the Hausa biker move towards the direction I fell making the trailer pass the other side. I sustained injury on my toes which was stitched at the hospital.
