Jobs/VacanciesRe: Which Way Nlng? by zhia2000(f): 2:07pm On Nov 16, 2007
I have been invited for the medical tests Hurrah!!!

But, I live and work in London, I have used up my leave for the year. I am thinking of coming for a weekend to do them but first, Please can anyone advise me on;

1. How long the tests last- 1day, 2days, 1 week!!!!

2. Is there any deadline for completing the medicals- In my letter the only info i have is (apart from "Venue: Garki Hospital Abuja"wink "Treat as Urgent". NLNG did not give any timeframe despite being very slow and disorganised- my letter was dated 30th october and my folks in 9ja just received it yesterday from the NLNG courier.

3. Can the tests be done on a weekend??

Please answers anyone,

i really don't want to miss this opportunity and i have faith that i will make it to NLNG in the end.

But at the same time i have to save my job here because judging by their recent speed or the lack of it, NLNG might take another 3-4 months to send out their final offer letter plus another 2 months or so to get the new employees started.

Till then i would have to feed myself and earn income/ a living- Woman must Wack as you all know

so i must plan this medical test attendance very well. In the past 1 year my grandfather has died 3 times i ve run out of the old dead relatives excuse for impromptu leave. So right now i can only do weekends, or give or take 1 working day for the flu/catarrh.

Please those who have done theirs please advise me.

Thanks Much appreciated

Hi Kuwena and all,

NLNG to Lagos/Bonny

Thanks for keeping this thread alive.

Immediately after my assessment back in July,  I called my father (Jehovah, Yahweh, I am that I am), and he told me my seat on flight NLNG has been paid for by my brother and friend JESUS.  So my seat is definitely CONFIRMED not just booked.  My SEAT number is  23!!!!!!!!

You see guys, I take my umbrella whenever i pray for rain.  will explain what that means,

Did you ever hear about the small town somewhere in America,  there had been no rain, you can imagine what the residents were going through.  They called a prayer meeting in the town hall to pray together for God to give them rain, and invited people of all ages.  The town hall was full with 364 sitting and 576 standing.

When the priest was about to start the prayer he noticed a little girl seated in the 1st pew.  She was wearing a red raincoat, red wellington boots (rain boots) and beside her was a small umbrella.  The priest asked her why she was dressed like that,

Here's what she said: "My mama told me we had to come pray for rain didn't she?"  "I came prepared because i don't want to get wet when we leave here".

Anyway I am in the same flight with Kuwena and all the others who booked their seats.  I let go to Let God take over and for me even after I start my NLNG job his best is yet to come.

Take care and please keep this thread alive.

Anyhooo, as long as we have passed i guess we can exercise patience. If it will make you feel better i called them and was told the interview is this june. so watch out for your letters please.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Is There Anything Like Uk Online National Lottery? by zhia2000(f): 6:34am On Jun 05, 2007
Yep Hon.  big scam.  the Uk national lottery website is:  www.national-lottery.co.uk

you can play online or by text message or direct debit/standing order.

if you win they will definitely notify you (except if you bought a paper ticket)

I you played online or as i mentioned above, they will pay up to £5000.00 directly into your account.  Anything above £5000.00, will require you to contact them for security reasons  (but they will inform you if you've won).

Under no circumstance will they ask you to pay "for delivery" especially when you have not bought a ticket.  my dear as a nigerian know when people are trying to 419 you. please see these links:

http://www.national-lottery.co.uk/player/information.do?info=securityadvice

http://www.national-lottery.co.uk/player/information.do?info=commonscams

You can play, but if you win you must be at least 16years old and a UK resident before you can claim your price.

gmemdee:
This is the kind of "sour grapes" comments that should be beneath Nairaland users. I would advise dungar to seek self improvement rather than attributing his inability to pass the test to a so-called quater system{sic}. His post is so riddled with grammatical errors that one wonders how he convinced himself that he could pass on merit.
As an aside,i find it amusing that a northerner should complain about the quota system now entrenched in Nigeria. Northerners not only brought the concept;they have benefitted the most.
dungar:
fellow landers, i congratulate those that were successful and pray 4 we that didnt make it.
BUT I HAVE NOTICED SOMETHING WITH THE WAY THEY SELECION WAS DONE.
THE SELECTION IS BASED ON QUATER SYSTEM NOT ON MERIT, THIS IS because WHEN I CALLED AND WAS TOLD I DIDNT MADE IT, I THEN PROCEED FURTHER TO ASK HOW MANY PER STATE WHERE SELECTED AND WAS TOLD THAT PRIORITY IS BEEN GIVEN TO THE SOUTH-SOUTH AND SOUTH -EAST CANDIDATE. THAT FOR THE OTHER STATES ITS 3persons PER STATE.
I WAS SHOCK AND I TOLD MY SELF THAT I AM PROUD TO BE A NOTHERNER, IF LNG WILL DISCRIMINATE ME GOD WILL NOT, SO MY PEOPLE THIER IS HOPE JUST KEEP PRAYING FOR BETTER OPPORTUNTIES.
THANKS.

To Dungar and gmemdee, You lot can't be serious. I think this is not the forum for the two of you to air your ethnocentric views. I visit this particular forum everyday because of the positivity shown by every one (including those that weren't shortlisted). dungar has the right to feel aggrieved but to say selection was made solely on state of origin is insulting to those of us that studied hard for the test. please call back and ask for your score you're entitled to them. gmemdee you did not have to point out dungar's grammatical/spelling errors nor his geo political zone.

In saying that, i am from rivers state and i know i passed on merit. i also support the discriminatory quota system for employing O&G staff not only because it favours the region but because it would help to improve the morale of the youths and thus hopefully discourage them from picking up arms.

Hopefully our 9ja will reach a stage when one's state of origin, or who one knows will not affect the best qualified person's ability or inability to get a job anywhere.

Hey Landers !!! I just called and I passed.  I am so ecstatic.  for those of us that made it and those that did not, this is not the end let's all keep living in God's Hope we'll get there.

Thanks mhm the numbers you posted (01-4634115 or 01-4634214) were the best.  They might take a while to answer but it should be expected since many of us are calling.

The Popular Sweetsjoy you are very positive.  keep having hope.  anytime a door closes a bigger window opens and you'll have better opportunities.  Every one of us are God's personal concern especially you.

good luck

BusinessRe: Starting A Waste Management And Recycling Plant by zhia2000(f): 10:22am On May 21, 2007
very good idea. i'm interested if you want a partner or a technical adviser. i've been working in this sector in the UK for 2yrs+.

I have also written waste management strategy plans for local authorities in the UK.

if you're interested i can send you a draft plan- this can give you an idea of how to plan, collect, sort and manage waste which is the first step.

2ndly, you need to know the nature and size of the waste you would process (in terms of tonnage, volume per day) then you can think of baling, sorting, compacting and grinding equipment.

Composting is relatively easy especially in the 9jan climate and temperature. but for large scale u need a large area and make sure it's outside towns/cities. the smell is horrendous.

and i also have excerpts of duty-of-care legislations (english) by my understanding it's quite similar to the 9ja one.
CareerShould I Leave My Good Job In The Uk For A Job In 9ja. by zhia2000(op): 7:15pm On May 18, 2007
Landers Kwenu!!!!

If you had a good professional job in the UK, that pays at least £27,000 p.a (£2300 per mnth) at entry level, and all other things are fine. Will you give that up for a job in 9ja? Please state reasons for ur choice.

Much appreciated wink
PoliticsRe: Akunyili Or Ribadu: Who Performed Better? by zhia2000(f): 7:05pm On May 18, 2007
Akunyili gets my top marks any day. She is right up there with Okonjo-Iweala.

Why? Unbiased, transparent, threatened, NAFDAC has clearly achieved results and above all she's down to earth.

Ribadu- i don't trust. Why? Truly biased, has disregard for the 9jan courts, OBJ's puppet, acts as OBJ's heavily wielded machine against political opponents, failed to probe IBB and hundreds of others. Corruption down by a meagre 0-2% could have been more if he wasn't partial.

El-Rufai is down there with Ribadu in my books . Why? renowned nepotist, because all the major enterprises he sold whilst at BPE have now become lame ducks. the deals turned turned out to be biased no wonder there are problems cropping up now. But he seems to get credit for doing work that should have come easy to any Local authority officer -namely: chasing Okada out off abuja municipal area and demolishing unapproved structures.
RomanceRe: Why Are Nigerians Shy About Public Kissing? by zhia2000(f): 6:47pm On May 18, 2007
I think it's just part of our culture. I like it that we do not kiss in public because if we did God knows what the next stage will be. Besides we should be happy, in India Richard Gere kissed Shilpa Shetty (Famous Bollywood actress) on her cheek at a HIV/AIDS Charity event and both were charged of public indecency. Apparently it's a crime to kiss or do similar acts in public over there.

Please note I'm not criticising India's laws or culture. It's just as an example
