We must not blame the leaders, people who should be the country are normal citizen.

While Africa is endowed with plenty of natural resources and a cultural and ecological diversity, the majority of the continent still remains underdeveloped. In fact, no other continent features in the list of the least developed nations more than Africa. Despite the volatile economic situations brought about by civil unrest, corruption, tribal wars, and deep poverty, a number of African countries are defying the odds to post significant economic improvements. Check out this list of the 20 most developed countries in Africa by the Human Development Index. Read more: https://www.tuko.co.ke/287134-top-20-developed-countries-africa-2018.html#287134

Don't make me laugh, numbers and the quality of the human being matters. You should not try to compare a disciplined, hard working patriotic Chinese or American with the barely literate superstitious workshy unpatriotic Nigerian striving to get money at any cost.Huge numbers would stretch resources and promote social problems especially in barely civilized countries like Nigeria. Chinese civilization is more than a thousand years old.
The truth of the matter is Numbers don't say anything, a country can do well with big or small population. Nigeria can also do well, if it's people are working hard like Botswana people or South African People.

the poorest municipality in south Africa is gaged with 85% unemployment and you are here talking.
The unemployment they refer to proper jobs of people who pay tax, there is a lot of unprofessional jobs that people are doing like hair salon, spaza shops.
Kindly please don't compare SA with Nigeria, you rather compare Nigeria with Zimbabwe.

The major city with the lowest poverty rate is Cape Town (30%). Pretoria and Johannesburg have somewhat higher rates of 35% and 38%, respectively, while Durban has a rate of 44%. The poorest municipality is Ntabankulu in the Eastern Cape, where 85% of its residents live below the poverty line.
across south Africa 27% are unemployed and south Africa govt collected o er $100 billion in taxes and still has south African blacks angry, xenophobic and poor.
you my friend do not have an understanding of economics
The living std of the poorest municipality in South Africa is better of the whole Nigeria.
