Hi chief.

A friend Mercedes Benz 2007 c320 started by starting for few seconds to not starting at all after a couple of attempts. The car was drove the previous day only to start misbehaving the following day. Scan revealed car not communicating with the ecu.


The Rewire wants to buy ecu with the same part number and reprogram with a machine.


The mechanic said the car would only start by replacing ECU, EIS and the key.

Who si probability right!? We want to know before we buy the part.

The car starts and stop after a few seconds, high speed engine fan, not starting at all sometimes. The scan revealed car is not communicating with the ecu. Different car readers brought but no way.

The Rewire said he would only buy the ecu with same part number and reprogram the stuff with machine.

The mechanic said that is impossible that we would have to buy the ECU, EIS and the key and replace those parts in the vehicle to make the car work again

Hello house. I'm using a c240 with the M112 engine.

That's the one they call ML ENGINE.

It had been making a ticking noise for some Weeks.

The mechanics said it was becos I delays servicing it.

Was driving some few days ago. The engine was vibrating agressively.

Came down to fine it even shaking.

This was late night.

Cudnt observe it all cos it was dark.


Decided to drive home with it.

On my way, the car just went off

Thot it was electrical problem.

Long story short, the following day, when the day git bright, noticed there was engine oil all over the oil filter

The mech removed it and we saw both the OIL FILTER STICK and THE CUP, the stick fits into broken.

My question is, can a cracked stick and it's cup lead to something more serious as much as damaging the engine?

When last did you change the filter?

Since that is what you observed, definitely the engine failure could be referred to the issue. Probably the engine oil leaked below critical level.

You guys are always comparing apples to oranges. How can you be comparing Venza, a front-wheel drive SUV/crossover to a rear-wheel-drive C-class with low ground clearance that was built for drifting in balance?

Will you compare the balance of Mercedes G-wagon to Camry spider? Even if you don't know anything, won't common sense tell you that Camry's center of gravity is closer to the ground and thus will be more balanced at corners than G-wagon?

Why didn't you compare your C-class to a Toyota Supra or Lexus Gs or Toyota Celica?

Comparing Corolla that was made very narrow and high off the ground for people going for work with a leisure/drifting car?

See if you want to compare, you should be comparing the first-generation Mercedes A-class (the one that was recalled for somasulting for no reason and ultimately failing moose test) to a Toyota Corolla. These two are in the same class and built for the same purpose and Toyota Corolla has never failed moose test or somasulted abnormally. Same cannot be said for the Mercedes.

What’s this one saying here? Where is the comparison and who is comparing here? I told the threadites what I own and what I had opportunity to drive and my experience, is that a comparison to you? You left the main point of that comment searching for what is not, is that what this thread has become? I have already made a choice based on the people replies. Thanks for commenting out of contest. We used to have a guy that jumped on people like some of you guys are doing now, 6-7years ago- Trac if I’m correct. He must have indoctrinated a whole bunch of guys here. I’m a proud owner of 1997 w202 c230 bought exactly 7 years, 1 month, two weeks and few days ago. It was my first car. I got it against the advice of people around me and I did not regret for a second that decision. I had Peugeot 406 , Toyota Corolla and 1998-2000 Honda Accord as top contenders. This thread and the top players here then influenced my choice. There is hardly a day I would not have to drive this car and it have never slept at mechanic workshop except for an occasion when I bumped on a ridge and the transmission oil pan got broken with oil leaking that resulted to fry TCU that shut the car into limp home modeThe replacement took 3 days because the part had to be sourced outside my area.

I drove Toyota Venza, 03/04 Corolla and Honda Accord 05 at a point, not the owner, none of them come in comparison to my old Benz in term of handling and stability on the road. Some of my close relative got Benz when they saw how mine has been a true servant.

What have I changed? Engine oil (I used total quartz 9000) every 12 months, air flow meter 3 times the latest was this morning , coil 4 times, TCU, plugs occasionally, transmission oil 3 times, absorbers and brake pads. I have not had to open the engine for any reason and the car is still in top form despite everyday use and flogging. I smile sometimes when some cars of the same class and a step higher wanted to drag race with me on highway. I would even be taunting some drivers on the road and allow them to have a victory when I know what would take me to beat the is a kick down.

Now I need to upgrade but I’m still keeping that legend. Here is my request, which year of w203 and brand can you recommend that would be as reliable and rugged as my w202?

Would you expect the DSP to go alone? The camera equipped in some phones ordinary people are carrying around can snap even the future.
