Check my posts here on Nairaland, I am Pro-Igbo....indirectly a tribalist when it comes to politics, so yes, I am full blooded Igbo with friends cut across Nigerian tribes, and nations cheesy

I have Yoruba friends who are also in similar marriage mess...its not about tribe...its about choice...

angry

Okay. We both know this thing is commonplace with Igbo people.

Anyhow, I really do understand your position. I believe that if you want to attract quality men, you have to have added that same level of value to yourself as a woman too. It's a two-way street.

And on the other hand, I have another friend who married a first daughter from a poor home and you need to see how my guy's finances is going down due to numerous demands from his in-laws.....he pays school fees for some of the wife's sisters, pays their house rent at times, send monthly stipend and whenever he refuses to spend, his wife starts to cry and this makes him weak....but as his close friend, my guy is dying in silence and regretting already angry

I beat my chest this is a igbo family. Yorubas don't live like this.

I really don't wish to....not because I am proud or trying to be an AH, but because I want a secure future for my kids and I want a lady that will sincerely partner with me in what we call marriage and create an enduring, lasting home and investments for our kids so they don't end up in the struggling cycle of this world.

May God grant your desires. Also pray to marry from a good family. Some families, rich or not, will wreck you. No matter what you decide for yourself, never marry a girl whose parents are controlling. Study her parent's personality traits. You should be fine.

P.S- Are you igbo though? Cos the way you go about this thing.

Yeah you maybe right....you know sometimes nature humbles us for a reason....but the possibility of that happening is very rare cos I don't even date below my par anymore no matter how beautiful the girl maybe talk more of marrying, so how will the marriage even happen, maybe spiritually, i doubt still wink
cool

I believe in equality so I agree with you. I just hope you stick to your desires cos it would be funny if afterall the bravado u end up with a palasa.

I'm a lover of Buhari and pro apc but also a very objective person. I watched the video clip of Buhari debunking the rumors and noticed his body movements. He looked too agile for a person his age or compared to the Buhari we used to know.

I hope my findings aren't what I think they are.

Modified: this is an objective point of view from a staunch buhari supporter. So if you're about hitting the like button without reason, objectivity, or because of your hatred for buhari, pls don't bother. Special reference to ipob yoots.

My sister listen, I don't need any lady's money cos God has been so wonderful to me. I used to be a fan of guys marry broke guys and help their family, but not anymore haven seen how our women behave and how they treat broke guys.

I

Didn't I say it? Upon all your brag you're a sissy. Real, well grounded men don't marry up. To your level is understandable but to marry above your level is quite irritating to hear.

By the way, that was a crass response to a thought provoking issue.

I love dogs a lot. We all do in my family. However, it baffles me that this is one animal that torments me in my dreams.

I always dream about dogs (local breed) but in a bad way. My dreams about dogs always go like this...

I'm walking on the road, 2 to 3 dogs appear from nowhere. They want to attack me, they stand in my way (they don't move though just block me). I get scared and wake up immediately. One thing that is common about these reoccurring dreams is that, it is never a chase dream but one of an attempt to attack in which I find myself waking immediately out of fear of that they would.

But yesterday, I had this dream again only that it was slightly different. There were two of them. A smaller dog and a bigger dog.

Now, the smaller dog attempted to attack me first. It was staring at me maliciously, I stared right back with a kind of authority I didn't know I had (I wasn't scared, unlike the other times that I'd be), following which it backed down. Then the bigger dog took charge. Stared at me maliciously in the same vein, charged at me and entered into my body. Immediately, I woke up, felt my body shake (like a tremor, simultaneously followed by body weakness). This lasted no more than 5 secs. Then I slept back.

CharlyG1, anybody.. what would you say about this? This bothers me.

My question is, why would a dog enter me? One would expect it to attack by way of biting. Why would it enter me to the extent that I felt a physical tremor and weakness when it did.

Yorubas are classy. After going through the first page, no chants of ipob by my good yoruba people. But if it were to be a yoruba in this sorry state, the whole of ipob on NL would have been demonstrating their usual madness. Lol.

Look if you're paying a maid then she is simply an employee and you as the employer can choose to go the extra mile to make her feel good, that's if one is conferred with divine wisdom.

You're only looking at everything through prisms and in this case you're only looking for reasons to back your innate prejudice against a certain tribe.

Please grow up.

Please grow up? Tell your mama that. Where I come from we treat helps well. Perhaps mummy didn't teach you that.

P.S - it isn't a choice, it's a responsibility. And if you still decide not to understand this, blame it on your upbringing.

Lol, you're funny. Ok, this woman opined that as long as you're meeting your terms of contract which includes paying your staff (maid) well, then madams do not need to give them any "preferential" treatment.

She made this statement when Morayo, the show host, was talking about how she treats her househelp. She said she takes her out with the kids even to amusement parks.

Stop this nonsense! The bigotry is getting out of hand. I'm Yoruba by the way!

Whether you like it or not, the truth is bitter. Watch and listen to the views of this Igbo woman who runs an Academy for helps on how they should be treated. Pay attention to the innuendos, pls.

P.S - this woman is of the opinion that we don't have to go all the way to treat househelps well as long as you're meeting the terms of the contract I.e paying good salary and all.

My point is, you can pay someone well yet treat them badly.

This is a kind of woman that will "pay well" yet relegate her maid to the kitchen.

You should keep quiet if you know nothing. I've never related abuse of this kind to igbos until I went through this thread. Now I have to agree. I watched YOUR VIEW on TVC yesterday and the topic of discussion was related to househelps and abuse. They had two guests on the show. One of the guests,an Igbo woman, runs an Academy for helps. You should listen to her views. I was concerned mehn and concluded she must be a mean witch.
