Webmasters › Re: Those Who Design Cheap Website And Those Who Think Web Design Is Cheap... by ZinoFego: 12:33pm On Oct 30, 2014 |
In respect to Joomla that I'm quite very familiar with, even those coded templates were developed using IDEs or compilers. In the sense of that, no one is actually coding from the scratch because somewhere along the line, you'll be lifted, you'll need help of an application or two to arrive. ediko5: My oga, i think you are out of the point here please. Yes using CMS to build a website makes it easy for a novice in web design to update and put contents into a website also enable many people to work on that site. But the theme used in building the website on any CMS platform was actually coded from scratch before it was made a CMS compatible (say Joomla). let's assume that everyone who will use Joomla to build a site will have to code his/her website from scratch before working on the theme to make it Joomla compatible, will web design be cheap tthe way it is? please it's not easy to learn professional web development so let us not look down on the professional and make it look cheap. |

There is one vital point no one has talked about. Here it is; debugging codes written by someone else. If a coder falls out with a client, aside the fact that the client will pay much more to get someone else to get the website functional, it'll be very likely difficult for the new coder to understand the codes of the first person. This may lead the client to starting all over again. I've found myself in more than one occasion.
Is any website actually coded from the scratch? I do not think so. Let me explain this, the compiler and IDE that you using as a coder is similar to the same platform used by a Joomla or WordPress platform user. You'll write your codes but depend on a compiler and IDE to generate your website. On the other hand, the Joomla guy enters a his parameters, his website is generated. The coder didn't develop the compiler neither did the Joomla/WordPress guy develop his platform.
Except a firm has an IT department with employed website developer(s), I wouldn't advice using a "coded" from scratch website because it'll be too expensive to maintain.
Please use what's is convenient for you and let the other rest. |

Nothing to worry about, your page didn't load completely. This is usually as a result of poor internet connection. Refreshing the page does help. |

Try and install through AMPPS minimoha: using an offline server I can't proceed from configuration to database. the next won't work pls wat do I do ZinoFego: Joomla has not officially addressed the issue. Most solutions that worked for others don't work for some in respect to this issue. But what has worked for most persons I have worked with is, keep restarting the installation, clear your browser cache and also restart your system once in a while. It''ll be a matter of time, it'll definitely install and subsequent installations won't have issues. The best way to run around it is, if you are using AMPPS, you can install Joomla using http://localhost/ampps or http://localhost:8080/ampps as your case may be. As soon as you enter that URL, a list of applications will be shown, you can select to install Joomla from there. Installing Joomla in an online server has no issues. |

1. Restart your system, then restart the services (Apache & MySQL) If (1) above doesn't work, then follow the other steps below. 2. Uninstall and re-install AMPPS. But this time, please ensure it installs in root of your "c:\" drive ie C:\ampps and not in your Program Files ie C:\Program Files\Ampps or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ampps as the case may be. 3. You can download Currports at http://joomlaextended.com/extensions/cports.zip to track which program is using which port. Please ensure you extract the zipped file before installing and also read the program documentation (readme). mnconcept: thank you for the info, please am a late comer on this thread but i realy have interest. please i just downloaded and install the AMPPS but the apache did not start telling me that port 443 is being used by another application, after i had replace listen 80 with listen 8080. pleas what could be the issue, cos am stuck here for now. thank you in anticipation. |

The bold text below should be the core of this discussion and I'm glad I was able to spot it from the original post. So lets work along that line my people. moderatorr: The beauty of a website does not reflect expertise these days, It is the functionality that you should be looking at. Its the functionality that would reflect the experience of the programmer. |

My question is that where can I get a component, module, plugins and likely open software to design or develop a portal or server base program that schools can use to give or put exam through to students, the system will automatically mark and either print the result out or compile it in the server for retrieving by an authorized personnel.
Thanks for your response.

Leave your listen at 80 if it's not used. phunkies9: Please I need help with the running of d apache,I installed the ampps correctly and followed your instruction on changing listen 80 to 8080 but its still not starting, please I'll really appreciate your professional advice |

Just click on the name of the folder you have your Joomla website installed in your localhost. If your Joomla website was installed in "JoomlaWebsite1" in your computer, just type: localhost/JoomlaWebsite1 into your browser, your website will just pop up. If your website was installed in an online server, just type the domain name, it'll pop up. If it's on a folder or sub domain name, just type that into your browser, you'll access your website. I don't think you've read through the tread because we discussed all that you inquired. Please go through the tread at the beginning to have a clearer picture of how to install Joomla and have it run. I have an eBook on Joomla 3.x at http://JoomlaExtended.com, that will also assist you a whole lot. akinnex: Please how do I access the front end of my joomla site, |
Webmasters › Re: Joomla FREE Training On Nairaland Live!!! by ZinoFego(op): 11:47am On Oct 09, 2014 |
Several things can cause that. What were the last changes you made to the website before the problem started? Can you access the administrator's end? If you just moved from your localhost in your computer to an online server, please ensure that you do the appropriate menu assignment for the template that you're using. Try also and change the site's template to the default Joomla template to see if that will help. younglino: Please how can i solve my joomla ish, its showing white screen.
