as a rule, if a girl says she has a boyfriend, you should leave her alone. If she says yes to you, then she is either a cheater or she left the boyfriend because you are "the greener pasture" and she will leave you the next time she find "a greener pasture" Else, she is the faithfull type, and will not leave her boyfriend for you. Its a lose-lose situation for you. And no, you cannot be "just friends". It's just torture. #mycrazyadvice 4 Likes |
Politics / Waiting For The Next Bomb Blast by Zinosalexander(m): 4:01pm On Mar 21, 2013 |
There was a time when bomb blasts in Nigeria were as rare as a non-thieving politician. Nigerians now treat bomb explosions in Nigeria the same way they treat car accidents, like it was meant to happen, sooner or later. Most times when bomb goes off, and we just hope that our loved ones are not among the dead, and we wait expecting the next bomb blast. Isn’t that heart breaking? Following the events of the recent bombings in Nigeria, you will realize that bomb explosions in Nigeria, irrespective of the location, are like an old movie which you have seen so many times. What are the annoying acts in this “movie” exactly? 1. Mr. President condemns the violence After every bomb blast in Nigeria, starting from the president, every top government in Nigeria will come out to condemn the violence. Is this what we are paying taxes for? Or is that why you were voted into office? Condemning violent acts? In case you haven’t heard Mr. President, it is your responsibility to hunt down the offenders and make them face the ugly side of the law. You are the president; it is your duty to ensure the safety of Nigerians. No offence, but anyone can condemn a violent act. It takes those in power to make sure such an ugly incident does no repeat itself. Talking about anyone can condemn a violent act…………. 2. Christian Association Of Nigeria (Can) Condemns The Violence Yes, it is not the duty of the Christian association of Nigeria to provide security to the citizen of Nigeria. They are actually on the list because they always condemn every act of violence against Christians in Nigeria and are always urging the Federal Government improve the security of the Christian community and Nigerians at large. We appreciate that. This is the recent activity of CAN in relation to other events in Nigeria for the past few weeks. A criminal convicted of corruption pardoned, they said nothing. A homosexual rapist pardoned, they said nothing. A bomb goes off in Kano and they come out “the condemning violence”. Is it just me or this is a classic case of hypocrisy? I do not wish to say more but it would be nice if you condemned other vices in the country like corruption, poverty, bad governance e.t.c 3. Fluctuating Body Count After a bomb blast, you hear that about 10 people died, next day it is no longer 10, it is six and the day after it is twenty-five. Like seriously, is it like some of the dead people come back to life or what? Another annoying part is when the army tells you that 20 people died, the police will tell you 17 and the media will tell you 50. Na una grandfather una day play with? 4. Nothing After a bomb blast in Nigeria, at first everybody runs for his or her dear life. Activities will become tense and sensitive for about a week or so. After that, visit the bomb site and it is as if nothing happened. It’s like magic. I am not saying that people should mourn a bomb explosion for a year, but c’mon. That is not the annoying part, the annoying part is the fact that nothing happens after the bomb blast. And by nothing, I mean, the army and police will surround the area for about a week. They might decide to give one or two headlines to the press. Headlines like, “we are sure the bombs came from Trinidad and Tobago”. Who cares where the bomb came from? We need people in jail and we want to be sure this does not repeat itself. After a month or so, nobody is talking about the bomb blast anymore, no suspect, no one in police custody, no one in jail, nothing. It just fades. We sit down, waiting for the next bomb blast………….. Politics / If Europe Underdeveloped Africa............. by Zinosalexander(m): 4:01pm On Mar 10, 2013 |
Most Nigerians love to link the underdevelopment of Africa and Nigeria in particular on the European colonial masters or the notorious and historical slave trade. I do not think so, why? 1. We were all born at the same time, if not earlier It does not matter whether you believe in evolution or creation or whatever you wish to believe to be the source of the human race. At best, we were all created at the same time and worst case scenario; Africans are the ancestors of the Europeans. Even before Africans had contact with the Europeans, we were living a primitive life compared to them and even after slavery and colonialism we are still, well living a primitive life; I would actually say we are better off after colonialism. 2. The Europeans looted our land during the days of colonialism So? They are still lots of resources to work with. I prefer to think of this like this. A con man comes to your house and starts stealing your gold poop. When you finally realized this you chased him out of your house. It was wrong of him to deceive you and steal your gold poop, but he is gone now and what you do is with your gold poop is up you. It’s the same scenario with Nigeria. Admittedly, the whites might have come to our land and looted our cotton, cocoa, groundnut and even human resources but that doesn’t stop us from developing from our resources now that they are gone. For crying out loud, there are a lot of resources we could work with. 3. Even countries that received independence before Nigeria are heading somewhere I do not want to call names of countries that received independence after Nigeria are heading somewhere. I guess it’s really stupid to say that Nigeria’s underdevelopment has anything to do with colonialism or slavery. Ethiopia was never colonized and Liberia was the first to receive independence and yet…………I rest my case 4. They were not like this at this age In a desperate attempt to condone Nigeria's underdevelopment, some people will tell you that When America was 53 years old, they weren't as develops as Nigeria. I really find this comparison ridiculous. Like seriously? Are you kidding me? It like saying it's okay if a twenty year old cannot operate a mobile phone, because when his dad was twenty years old he could not operate a mobile phone. It doesn't even make sense 5. Reparation Is absolutely ludicrous Reparation is the idea that colonization and slavery on the African continent has caused the continent to be backwards and thus we (Nigeria and Africa in whole) should be compensated. Lol. Let me explain. Those who support reparation say that Nigeria would be better than it actually is today without colonization or slavery. Nigeria could be better today without slavery, just maybe. But there is no way Nigeria could be better without colonization. I could go on forever to prove my point we’ve had just one railway system and we’ve had that's the same railway system that our colonial masters used to transport our natural resources to the sea ports for easy transportation. We cannot even maintain it, talk more of build a new one. Conclusion I am not saying that Europeans are perfect or that their countries are at the peak of civilization, what I am saying is that I am not impressed with the pace of development of MY COUNTRY. I am just a bored Nairalander saying sh*t |
Religion / Let Your Life Spread Gospel – Your Words Amount To Nothing by Zinosalexander(m): 3:38pm On Mar 10, 2013 |
There are three topics that I try to avoid by all means and unfortunately – religion, politics and sports. Most people do not like to reason with their head when it comes to these topics and as such I tend to say as quiet as I can. I just can’t hold this in anymore, I have to say something or I will explode There are a lot of reasons why I am not religious and one of them is that religion is so hard and i prefer to do what feels right and makes me happy. Some people just have the urge to put up a charade. This morning before a pastor (my neighbor) came to invite me to his church, in a friendly usual “I am a Christian and I am not judging you but you are going to burn in hell” way. In order to get him off my back I said I was going to attend his church. Ten minutes later, I saw him quarreling with an elderly man, because the elderly man punished his son. He kept threatening the old man and the way he was talking was disrespectful and I did not like him. Ten minutes later, he all dressed up and going to church obviously, to preach to a congregation about peace, love and whatever it is that he wants to use to collect their money in the form of offering. I do not even want to go into the pastors that are on the news for one atrocity or another This is a norm among most religious people in Nigeria today. One minute you are preaching peace and the next you are blowing up a church (I did not call names), one minute you are in praying in church and the next you are having s*x, one minute you are reading your reading your holy book and the next you are giving/taking bribe. If you want to spread the good news of your religion, the best way to do so is to show the impact it has on your life and how it is makes you see the world and how it makes you relate with your fellow brothers and sisters. No one is perfect, I admit but the hypocrisy is too much. Needless to say, if you can’t practice a religion, shut the f*ck up |
Nairaland / General / The Funniest Scam In Nigeria by Zinosalexander(m): 2:40pm On Feb 21, 2013 |
First of all, I don’t want to seem shallow or anything but I really find this stupid. What do I find stupid you might ask. I am about to give you my thought on the funniest kind of scam in Nigeria. Its one thing to fool me over the internet or over the phone and it’s another thing to rob me in broad daylight with my brain still in my head. What are you thinking? Are you a learner? Truth be told, these things do happen. When I was in the university, I get to see these guys that come to announce to the class that every fresher should apply for a certain scholarship and if you apply for the scholarship, you could get as much as 500,000 naira. As if that is not enough, they go ahead to tell you that they are collecting about 750,000 naira in year from scholarship. Would you give me a break? If I was receiving 100,000 to the money I was already receiving from my parents you would know, I won’t have to tell you. Trust me. Now I am serving and I get to see all these guys coming over to talk me into enrolling for a course that qualifies me to become a member of a professional body and the certificate I get from such an institute would give me an edge over my colleagues in the labor market. The most annoying statement he made was when he said, “we don’t need your money, and we just want to give you an edge over your colleagues”. You don’t need my money why don’t you train me for free. I am not saying that such a certificate would do me no good but we both know that this guy is obviously lying to me, and why would I give my money to a liar? Another variation to this lie is when I see a dirty, poor and beggarly looking man selling a book titled “Become a Millionaire in 5 seconds”. Like really? We see this kind of thing every day, a poor guy promising you wealth. What were you thinking when you were giving him your money? Like seriously. If you want to scam me, at least put on a show and let me believe you don’t need my money. Once again I am not generalizing that your car, phone, house or material wealth has anything to do with how much you are worth or even how much money you own. But truth is told, you material wealth does say something about how much money you have, who we are kidding. You might bring up stories about how this rich man has just one car or how that rich man has just one house. My dear don’t kid yourself and let one sharp guy pour sand for your eye. |
