Some Suspected armed robbers attacked residents of Tella Estate in the Akobo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday in a reportedly coordinated operation that lasted several hours. Residents said the seven-man gang arrived at the residential estate a few minutes after 12am and raided one house after another, carting away valuable items belonging to the residents. It was also gathered that a large number of residents were injured in the attack. Several expended cartridges were found at the scene of the raid, while a private guard, identified simply as Victor, received machete cuts to his head from the suspected robbers. Chairman of the landlord association in the area, Basiru Shodeyinde, said the incident was reported at the Akobo Police Station. Shodeyinde said, “From the information I have, the robbers have been in the community since midnight. I was not aware until around 2am when a fellow landlord called me on the telephone to inform me about the attack. “I called other landlords to inform them of the incident in the community. It was then that I became aware that they had attacked seven houses. They carted away mobile phones, laptops, iPad and other valuables. They collected money from their victims. “We have reported the incident at the Akobo Police Station around 10am on Saturday and we were given a police officer to inspect the damage the robbers did to our people. Though we couldn’t get the police at the period of the attack, we have been given numbers to dial in case we have such experience again.” A victim of the attack, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the armed robbers wore masks, adding that after he gave them everything he had, they threatened to kill him if he did not give them more. He added that his wife was hit with the butt of a gun by one of the robbers. He said, “They had almost removed the window’s burglar-proof bars when my wife woke up. She told them that she would open the door and she did so. We gave them all the money we had so that they would not harm us. But they told me to bring more money or they would kill me. I said there was no money and they pointed their gun at me, but my wife confronted them and she was hit with a gun butt. She is in a hospital now.” The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said nobody made any distress call to the police while the attack lasted despite the fact that police authorities released telephone numbers to every community in the state. He said the attack was reported around 2pm on Saturday, adding that the Divisional Police Officer in the area had been told to ensure the patrol of the area. He said investigation was ongoing. http://www.zionadebisi.com/2017/10/armed-robbers-carry-out-house-to-house.html

Sound Sultan, born Olanrewaju Fasasi, has given reasons he didn’t participate in the Charly Boy protest against President Muhammadu Buhari. Charly Boy, had led a protest against Muhammadu Buhari during his medical vacation in the United Kingdom, demanding that the President comes back or resigns. Speaking to Punch, where he also claimed that some politicians begged him to change his message, Sultan said, “Charly boy called out celebrities quite alright and I respect Charly Boy a great deal but I was not around in the country. “I told him to watch out for me because I always use my social media account to talk to youths. It is very important for us to know it is not about protesting for a week, it is an on-going discussion. “I have been speaking about social ill since the beginning of my career even as an up and coming artiste. “I have always been singing about the hardship in the country, so nobody can point fingers at me and I will keep doing that. “So if I am not around at a certain time that a protest was held, it does not really matter. Tuface was well meaning but the same people he tried to fight for took it against him. “That is Nigeria for you. It is not about Charly Boy. Who were the people throwing stones at Charly Boy during the protest ? Were they Togolese?” Source - http://www.zionadebisi.com/2017/09/why-i-didnt-take-part-in-charly-boys.html

Lady Michelle Obama has lashed out at female voters who backed President Donald Trump. “Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice,” she said. Mrs Obama, who has stayed largely out of the political fray since leaving the White House, made the remark at a Boston conference. She reflected on the 2016 election as an example of staying true to her “authentic self”. “Quite frankly, we saw this in this election. As far as I’m concerned, any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice,” Mrs Obama said on Wednesday during a question-and-answer session at Inbound, a marketing and sales conference in Boston. She continued that many Americans decided last November that Mr Trump’s “voice is more true to me”. Mrs Obama insisted, however, that she wanted Mr Trump to succeed. “We want the sitting president to be successful because we live in this country,” she said. “He is our commander in chief, he was voted in.” Just 54% of women voted for Mrs Clinton, who lost to Mr Trump last year, while 52% of white women voted for her Republican opponent. “Well, to me that just says, you don’t like your voice. You like the thing you’re told to like,” she said of Mr Trump. Mrs Obama and her husband, former President Barack Obama, campaigned for Mrs Clinton during last year’s election. Olamide Adedeji who at the moment has been making all clubs and parties bang with his “WO” song, has advised young ones not to drop out of school to fulfill their dreams. According to Olamide he was lucky to have fulfilled his own dream despite dropping out of school, but they might not be that lucky. He however assured that, if only his parents were able to pay his school fees back then, he would have stayed to be a graduate today. Speaking to Sunday Scoop, Olamide said; “I was lucky to achieve my dreams despite dropping out of school. I left the university because my parents were not able to pay my tuition fees; as such, leaving school wasn’t of my own making. If there was money, I definitely would have remained in school. You don’t have to drop out of school to fulfill your dreams. However, if due to one reason or the other, you are unable to complete your education, you should also know that you can still succeed regardless.” Source : http://www.zionadebisi.com/2017/09/dont-drop-out-of-school-to-fulfill-your.html

yaqq:Haha, that's true |
McGregor claimed he was merely fatigued after going toe-to-toe with the unbeaten American and suggested referee Robert Boyd should have let the fight continue to the bell in the 10th round. . But Darragh O’Carroll, MD, praised the man in the middle for calling a halt to the fight when he did. Writing on TONIC, O’Carroll said: “Byrd’s calculation to call a stoppage was likely not based on signs of fatigue, but rather signs of traumatic brain injury. Ataxia, or dizziness and loss of balance, is one of the hallmarks of concussion, a type of mild traumatic brain injury. Fatigue may cause sluggish and slow movements, but does not cause the imbalance and poor coordination exhibited by McGregor in the 10th round. Being wobbly, in the setting of pugilistic trauma, will always be treated as the result of head trauma and not as fatigue. To let a fighter continue on would be grossly negligent. Continuing the fight would have put McGregor at risk for continued head trauma, risking a future of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or at worst, repetitive damage leading to a severe traumatic brain injury such as a brain bleed. It wouldn’t be the first time a boxer experienced this, as was tragically the case just this year to young Daniel Franco, who required emergency neurosurgery to save his life.” Source : http://www.zionadebisi.com/2017/09/mcgregor-would-have-suffered-brain.html?m=1
