It hurts so bad. Just like you lost someone dear. I lost my GSD puppy last night to electrocution occasioned by carelessness on the part of my electrician. Painful

I got this cute GSD puppy about three weeks back. She was 6 weeks old. It was a lovely female pet. Playful and fun. My 18 month old male dog was happy to have her around as a companion. I named her Xena. Painfully, last night, around 10pm, I noticed the male was barking endlessly. I moved out to see why. I found Xena dead. She was electrocuted by a naked wire carelessly left by my stupid electrician at the gate house. So painful. My wife is grieving over the loss. I'm sure my kids will miss Xena.

Frankly, I think the APC should be focused on delivering on it's campaign promises to nigerians rather respond to every comment made by government. Expectations of nigerians are indeed very high. Lai Mohammed should be concious that he now belong to the ruling party and should stop acting as if he's in opposition. Having said that, President Jonathan is playing to the gallery by ignorantly expressing fears of "persecution" in the public. That indicates he is not clean. I encourage the incoming government to look into the relevant activities of the outgoing government where necessary in order to perform better. For example, the issue of missing $20 billion should be revisited. That money can do a lot in view of the dwindling economic fortunes of the country. Also, the privatisation of PHCN that has brought higher electricity bills and prolonged darkness instead of improved power supply should be examined. I think it's not out of place for any government to ask questions on anything, so long it's for the betterment of the entire nation.

personally, ill say my dog is not my security. of course they scare people off the house when they bark but for a thief carrying gun? ill beg him to allow me lock my dog first. because believe me, the dog will save you at the cost of its life. and what happens if your dog gets a bullet on the head and the thief still robbs?

if youve had experience with human security you'll know that they dont dare thieves. some will even run away and never come back. even police men carrying gun still use their siren to scare away thieves.

pls dont jeopardize the life of your dear dog. yes, we know they are willing to die for us. but are we willing to let them go?

I'm glad you dropped some words. I wasn't expecting the dog to fight for me, but I expected it to alert me by barking when the intruders got close the house, so I can take action byalerting the police or something. Of course the dog can't secure me. What baffled me, like I said, is the fact that the dog was mute al through the encounter.

There are several reasons why dogs wont bark at robbers, 1) it could be d dogs are scared of loud noise, so when they hear suc noise they cower away 2) the robbers might have come prepared by bringing meat, dogs are crazy about meat and once u give them that meat, at that moment, u are their best friends, this is d reason y u have to train your dogs not to eat anitin from anyone or d floor except in a plate or u fed them. If it was meat that was used, u should be tankfull because most times robbers attack a house wit vicious dogs, dey poison d meat, i lost a dog to that recently. At 5 month ur dog is still a puppy and so therefore has time to grow and get more aggresive or u could employ a trainer, i dont know of any in abuja, as i stay in lagos, if not i would have recomended. Instead of getting a new dog, i would advice getting a trainer, for a first time owner, it may not be that easy to handle 2 dogs

Thanks for your comments. My dog is a year and five months, not 5 months. Besides, he doesn't eat anything out of his plates. I'm very sure of that. Is it still advisable to get a trainer, given his age?

Of you did not train the dog on loud noises, he/she will be scared of loud noises.

Another thing is self esteem which is needed enough to attack. If a dog lacks that, he/she will not attack but stay at a distance and make noise

You can also get books to teach you in guard dogs.

Thanks for your contribution. I travel a lot nowadays and may not have the time to train a dog to be a guard. My wife has always been a fan of dogs. She can handle them, but I would prefer a formal training for the dog I will buy. Any suggestions?
