All Glory to God for a safe journey. It could only have been Him. I was allowed to take in all my baby's cereal, grounded egusi, pepper, ori, maggi and the likes of Naija food.

I used wheel chair all through and didn't regret using it,it made it a lot easier to carry my hand luggage and my sleeping toddler.

May God keep granting us favour in Jesus name
Awesome! Congratulations dear. All glory be to God in the highest. Thanks for the wheelchair tip. Will request for one too. Thank God for favour, looking forward to plenty of it as I enter through Houston POE in a few days.

Back to share my VO story...

The resources on this thread are priceless.

After exchanging pleasantries, the VO asked me about a previous UK visa denial, I explained it and showed him other countries I'd been to. He then asked about the purpose of visit, I told him about the training and childbirth (didn't start the story of not mentioning childbirth in my application). The focus immediately shifted from training to childbirth! cool shocked

He then asked about medical correspondences & I calmly passed them on including the 'golden' budget sheet (mom's pls have this handy). He reviewed my bank statements and I also has specific financial documents related to the funding for childbirth; covering the full amount which he reviewed.

He asked why I wasn't having the baby in the same state where I'd be having the training and I explained that I didn't have anyone to stay with except in Houston.

I had to remind him about the training and asked if he'd like to see the support documents. He just said I was going to a prestigious school and he had no issues with it.

He then confirmed how long I'd stay & I said 8-10 weeks.
He typed away for a few minutes & handed me the white sheet for visa pick up. I calmly thanked him and left in thanksgiving mode grin

Thanks MumTee, FinanceFitness, Phema & house members...

BTW, just thought this might also be helpful. There was another lady there for vacation & childbirth but her visa processing/decision was placed on hold pending presentation of medical correspondences et al. So, it's really important to go there prepared.

zoemummy:
@Mumtee, thanks so much for sharing your experience. Finding this thread and all the helpful moms & dads is an answered prayer!

Great, so no need to send them an email ahead. BGG, I should deliver in Houston very early in December-WHMC. Dr. Elvis Torres or Matti Korhonen. Hope we can meet up. Which hospital are you using?

Would you mind sharing the budget template or guide on how to find it on this thread?

May God grant me, and the rest of us in the visa processing stage, FAVOUR!

Thanks a million!

Thanks FinanceFitness smiley

The training is actually very true. I have all the documents from the school & my employer. It was based on applications earlier in the year and selections after mid year. Pregnancy happened in between but I didn't realise it would be so close to EDD and I didn't want to forfeit the opportunity because of the pregnancy.

It's my 2nd baby, 1st was born in-country.

As shared by mumtee, I'll just go with all the docs, and trust God they'll understand. I'll also explore the possibility of modifying the form like you have advised.

From all the feedback, I guess sending the email is not necessary. Right?

FinanceFitness:
They may find it suspicious that you are going on a training when you should be winding down and going on maternity leave. So they may doubt that your training story.

If you are certain the training story is correct, then go with the other documents, explain yourself and pray they understand.

If no, you can still modify your form to have the correct details - it's somewhere on this thread

MumTee:
@ zoemummy, your case is a bit similar to mine. Let me share my experience with fellow Nairalanders. I stumbled on this platform b4 my scheduled visa interview last month and I must say thank you to everyone here. You ve been all very helpful with information shared, God bless us all.
When I filled and submitted my application early July, it was with the intention of attending a conference in August and all details and contacts captured that.
But, along the way I knew I would use the visa for childbirth too. Interview date was Aug 17 and conference date in LA was Aug 25th which were too close. I discovered it will be difficult to convince the VO that my true intention was the conference knowing that I was pregnant and by interview date, my bulge might be showing.

With the information I got on this forum, I decided to change my intent to have child birth and started putting my burden of proof together. Got d Doc/hospital correspondence, prepared my budget sheet (thanks to Phema's sample budget sheet), did a breakdown of my net worth, employment details etc.
With all these in hand, nice accessories, nice camisole complementing my blue heels, well made up face and nice frangranced perfume, I headed for d interview more than a month after application was submitted.

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning with a bright smile
VO: where are u going in the US
Me: I was actually due to attend a conference in LA next week wen I applied online, but after confirmation of my pregnancy and due date, I realised my employer would not give me my full maternity leave if I take my annual leave to attend dis conference and vacation so, I'd rather forfeit d conference so I could have my full mat leave and spend quality time with the baby. Hence; I and hubby decided to birth baby and vacation in the US wit d application. To this feat, I have consulted a physician and hospital in Houston.
VO: Can I see d DR's correspondence
Me: Here u are
VO: How did u find out abt d Doc?
Me: Research on Healthgrade, reviews and referrals
VO: who is sponsoring this birthing?
Me: Myself and Hubby
VO: How much will this cost you?
Me: N3m thereabout, pls take a look at my budget sheet (hands over budget sheet with summarised net worth to fund d budget)
VO: Where do u work and what do u do there?
Me: XYZ and I function as .......(summarised my JD as filled in my application)
VO: How much do u earn?
Me: X naira monthly (as filled in application) plus qtrly and yearly allowances, profit bonuses etc
VO: what does your husband do, where he works and what does he earn
Me: so so so and so....
VO: Where have u previously travelled to?
Me; UK, Dubai and recently Ghana
VO: Do u have other kids?
Me: Yes
VO: Your visa is approved, pick up in 2 days time ...........( and hands me the white paper)
Me: Thank you, have a nice day

No statements of acc checked, no employers details, payslip checked etc

@Zoemummy, go with your burden of proof, enuf confidence and explain your intent truthfully, we shall testify.

Houston bound Dec Mums in the house, please holler o.

Any recent Houston POE experience; pls share o.
Thanks all, u are d best!!!

Glad I was referred to this forum, the knowledge sharing is priceless! Please I need a guide on my visa application & interview, I haven't quite found any comment that addresses it.

I'll be attending an official training in the US but will be 36w plus at its completion. At the time I completed the visa application form, I hadn't planned to stay back for delivery so it wasn't stated. Now, I have had to make child delivery plans because returning back to Nigeria afterwards will be cutting it close to my delivery date & I may as well access the better medical care there.

I have read on this forum about writing to the consular for change of visa plans/purpose. My visa interview is in a few days, should I write to them about the child birth plans since I can't amend my application forms or should I just wait to mention it to the VO?

I would appreciate your valuable feedback.

PS: The doctor and hospital arrangements are sorted with documented correspondences & part payments. The dates also show I contacted them after completing the application form.

Thanks.
