Instead of the Corps Members(Educated Illiterates and Misguided Miscreants) to unite with All Sane and Patriotic Nigerians and demand security for All Nigerians(Home and Abroad) from our misguided son-GEJ, they are busy fighting sectional interest that will not stand the test of time.
+1000

Unfortunately, most Nigerian graduates are educated illiterates.

^^^
The Northern extremists want to islamize the south but they are adopting a violence means even though they have not been able to expand their campaign across their Northern domain, they see the north as a place where southerners especially christains should not pollute which is why they burn churches whenever there is crisis.
What I'm saying is that there is a bigger problem of ideology in the north which security or no security cannot even address.what an hausa man wants is for his land to be free from infidels and which is just a misconception by them to achieve their political agendas.if not,why do southerners have to die because a buhari lost election ? If there is adequate security.

We know this would happen, there was adequate intelligence, but GEJ and his goons just did not plan adequately for it. Scrapping the NYSC scheme will not help, it would make the situation worse in the long-run.

@zstranger

please please please with all due respect, stop commenting on these issues. you obviously have no clue. there is nothing like Ibo cult members killing yoruba activists. please please please. I attended UNIBEN and was a member of student's union so i have first hand knowledge. as bad as cultism is in Naija, it is hardly tribal. All the cults have members from all tribes. please dont say things you know nothing about. NYSC should be scraped. it is a project that will not succeed as long as we have the kind of mentality prevalent in the north
And do you know who I be? You are a mo/ro/n.
There are more Ibos in cult than any other tribe in Nigeria. And yes, some of the cult members of the July 10 1999 OAU cult attack were Ibos. As much as we hate you guys for your double-standards, hardly would you hear of Yoruba people castigating the whole of Ndigbo for the actions of their few wayward sons.

So before removing the speck in someone else's eyes, take time for yourself and remove the log in yours.

Ediot. "Cultism in Naija is hardly tribal" Oh yes, it is. And who told you that the killings here were tribal?  BiafraTV?
So what is the next option ? Leave southerners to die like christmas chicken in the north ? The deal is let southerners serve within the 3 southern geopolitical zones while the northerners also can serve within their own 3 geopolitical zones. That is the only to protect southerners from attacks that is if the scheme is still being retained.
This is the real world genius. Every job is risky. Truck drivers die on our roads all the time, without anyone making noise. Police brutality nko on our 'iya alakaras,' 'iya n boli' etc. The point  here is that, when you look at the big picture and the ratio of those killed to not-killed, it is still a very very safe job, compared to truck driving, flying, politicis-ing etc. The solution is to improve security throughout the country. Improved security for us all, including security from police brutality, from rampaging almanjiris, from Bakassi boys, from OPC, from cult members on our campuses, from area boys on our streets.

That is the only solution. The AG of the federation was killed, till this day, we dont know what happened. The NURTW chairman in Ibadan was killed a few months ago, we still havent heard anything about it. Funsho Williams nko, etc.

The only solution is to improve security by training our police officers better, equiping them more adequately, and improving their welfare and professionalism. That is, pending when we can improve our economy and provide jobs for all that are willing to work

We should also do something about the justice system.

NYSC should either be scrapped or reorganised so you serve in your home state. This young man's death should not be in vain. How can states which barely produce secondary school leavers benefit from the blood and sweat of others ?
You dont treat a headache by cutting off the head. We need to talk and find solutions to this problems,
NYSC is a very good Scheme. We just need better security throughout the country.

People die in the SW/SE too.

He was not alone. Six other youth corps members were confirmed killed in Bauchi, where the candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, polled 1,315,209 votes (or 81.69 per cent), defeating President Goodluck Jonathan (of the Peoples Democratic Party) who scored 258,404 votes and did not even hit the 25 per cent mark. The corps members were reportedly chased to a police station where they sought refuge. But the rioters, who were said to be chanting “Sai Buhari”, overran the station and killed the young Nigerians.
How could a mob brandishing sticks and machetes overrun a police station?

Heads should roll for this. The top sheriff od the state and the ASP of the division should be questioned. This is very unfortunate.

Anyway, you can take custody as long as you keep him in chains, Awon Iya ti ko Aremu.

American? Like CIA?
No. What Ifa does actually teach us is to accept everyone, including OBJ and OGD, regardless of status. In Osa Meji Ifa says:

The head of a person with a bad future does not swell up
No one can recognize the footprints of a madman on the road
And, no one can distinguish the head of an honorable person in an assembly of people
This was the theaching of Ifa for Mobowu
Who was the wife of Ogun
Surely, the head that will wear the crown tomorrow
No one can recognize it
Therefore, let husband and wife stop calling each other names
And stop talking foolishly to each other
For the head that will wear the crown tomorrow
No one can tell which one it will be

Ori buruku kii wu tuulu
A ki i da ese asiwere mo loju ona
A ki i m’ori oloye lawujo
A difa fun Mobowu
Ti i se obinrin Ogun
Ori ti o joba lola
Enikan o mo
Ki toko-taya o mo pe’ra
Won ni were mo
Ori ti o joba lola
Enikan o mo

Aside from reminding us that we never know when we will need help from someone, or who that will be, Ifa is clear that we also do not have foresight. The leaders, and likewise madmen, of tomorrow are not known today, so from a practical standpoint, we should accept and  treat all people, for no one knows tomorrow,

Who said the reason why the HIV/AIDs prevalence in Ekiti was due to Ekiti non exposition?

Are you not-so-smart? grin I guess you should check the literacy rate of that small state compare to yours. . . . dont stop there, check out their migration rates too. Be it Igbo, Kanuri, Bini or what not, ask one of your friends who have not met an Ekiti in UK, US, Europe etc.

So we need the DG to identify the corpse? So the DG knows all corpers on face basis?
What if he was identified by other corper colleagues of his who should be able to id him, even in death? Some people with their 10 kobo sense.
You and your dimwit igbos would not stop amusing the rest of us sensible people.

There is a process to everything.

The top sheriff in the state where he died would have confirmed his death and the circumstance surrounding his unfortunate death to the DG of NYSC, and since that hasnt happened, we just have to wait for the process to work itself out.

Information reaching me is that he wasnt killed because of the election. But hey, what do I know, this is the internet where Ojukwu is a hero, Emeagwali has a Nobel, and every Igbo poster has 4 Ph.Ds in hydroponics.
