indie22:

I once took a flight on afriqair from lagos to london gatwick via tripoli, i must say that was the worst flight of my life. We boarded what looked to me like a plane from outside and a molue inside to Tripoli, the plane was shaking all through the flight, i wasnt sure if it was turbulence or nuts and bolts in the plane coming undone, it was dead cold in the aircraft and we had no blankets, no food, no inflight entertainement, i had to ask one of the cabin crew if i could borrow his jacket when blankets were not available as it was kind of chilly, and guess what? One of the cabin crew was smoking on board the aircraft, in the toilet and no one paid him any attention.

We got to tripoli and i felt like i was in a war zone, people carrying guns freely, immigration officers yelling at people, gadafi's huge potraits all over the place, we were there for over 3 hours, in my mind i cursed the travel agent who booked me on the flight (not like i blamed her anyway as i was being an 'ijebu' and was looking for the cheapest flight possible.

People were being harrassed unecessary, it was just hellish. When we eventually got on a flight to london, we were finally fed some weird looking food that looked like fried eggs and dried bread, and we had coke poured into cups to drink (3 people per bottle).

They'll definitely get my award for the crappiest airline ever!

^^^^

Were you harassed in Tripoli?

Did they play with your bo/ob/ies? any fi/ng/er/in/g? Did you enjoy it?

Blazay:

I pity women in Nigeria I swear.
Why should she be sacked?
Did Asiwaju Tinubu not have fake credentials?
Why was he not sacked?
Rubbbbbbbbish!

Blazay, the okoro-Ngbatic blokos chopper

For starters, Tinubu was elected, not appointed. So the issue of sack or no sack does not even come to play at all. Okereke was appointed, not elected. Geddit!

Second, Tinubu has correct, original, and verifiable credentials. He graduated from Chicago State and afterwards went to work for Mobil before coming to Nigeria.

The issue with Tinubu has to do with misrepresentation, he claimed to have attended the more prestigious, uber selective University of Chicago, instead of the lesser known, less selective Chicago State.

So your rant about Tinubu is highly misguided and reeks of very low/inferior analytic skills. grin

I still love you though.  Sucking your labia majora is still a goal of mine. cheesy

BABE!:

That wasn't the first time we were killing a chicken with it's head not cut off completely. And the thing is, their heads are normally hanging off by some skin or something. They are never really attached. That chicken was just special.

Not really, it  just the nervous system taking a life of its own. Normally suppressed by the brain, but once the brain is off, the nervous system act erratically.

Basic physiology/neuroscience baby!

Politics / Re: Pdp Should Return Chairmanship Slot To Southeast, Says Ngige by zstranger: 5:17am On Jun 03, 2011
Ibos want everything!

This is really annoying and shameful

They want the SGF, Speaker, Senate, claimed GEJ is Ibo, and now they are clamoring for PDP chairmanship.

This is beyond ridiculous!

Kilode?!:

This is from a NewsWatch article:

You mean she lied about all these shocked shocked

I don't believe it. Maybe there's a mistake somewhere, I will wait for her to speak.

I'm not worried about NYSE, they probably didn't bother since she wasn't on their radar.

I'm shocked at the audacity of the Madam's many claims, If she was indeed lying shocked

Damn!

Well, you really cant blame her.

Imagine the NYT or Time publishing glowing appraisals of someone without checking the person's record? It just wouldnt happen.

First of all, how did Newswatch come up with the fact that she made First Class at Baruch College? We all know that the American system doesnt recognize the  Honours system. Magna cumlaude is Magna cumlaude, and it is not the same thing as First Class Honours.

I am actually going to give her the benefit of doubt here. If she actually got away with all of that, then she deserves our praise, not our condemnation. One of my favorite books in the world is Tobias Wolff’s memoir This Boy’s Life. He narrated the story of his life, growing up in Concrete, Washington, with a loving but poor and abandoned mother, a malevolent new stepfather, and a decision he made when he was 12 years old—he just decided—that he was meant for a better life, inspite of his bad grades in school. One day, during school he stole some letterhead, made up a new transcript for himself, several stunning letters of recommendation, applied and is eventually accepted to Hill prep school on the East Coast on scholarship . From there he went on to the prestigious Oxford university and graduated with a first class honors degree and stayed at Oxford to pursue a master's degree.

And with that he became almost exactly who he had always wanted to be, a writer, for starters, and a person with a certain place in the world.

There is a lesson from this: not that we all  have the power to simply make up who you are. But you can choose to put yourself in a new and specific world and that will change who you are. Ndi Okereke, just Like Tobias Wolffe, who now teaches at Stanford, has simply done that, took charge of her life.

I have no issues with her. My problem is with those who employed her and the Nigerian newspapers who simply put her on a pedestal without doing their work.
Religion / Re: What Are Atheists Doing In The Religion Section Of Nairaland? by zstranger: 10:14am On Jun 02, 2011
There are no Atheists on NL, or in Nigeria for that matter. Since Tai Solarin demise, Atheism has died a natural death

spikedcylinder:

So I went to the book store yesterday and saw the book. I was still contemplating on whether or not to get it (e cost small embarassed tongue) until I flipped the pages and read the following:

"I was an enormous child. My mother said I made her back curve like a cat's tail. . . . . . "
"I never knew my father. My mother said: your father left me for a beautiful woman. I told him I was pregnant and he didn't want to hear it. He sliced me like an okra and left. He pursued another woman's hole and died inside it."

That surely won me over. I have started reading. grin grin grin cheesy

I am a Nigerian citizen, specializing in yahoo-yahoo and going by the FOI, I think the information you pretend to be your PERSONAL info, actually ought to be open to my person as well.

I am asking you for their bikini sizes or the color of their eyes here. I am asking you for information on people who work in the ministries for ME so I can harangue them with my stoooooooopedity and other Nigerians and their contact information so I can scam them and ask them questions of my country and how they are doing our work.

Infinite Jest and This is Water by the David Forster Wallace

The greatest writer/thinker of the last twenty years

David Foster Wallace writes so beautifully, is so show-offishly smart and understands the intricacies of human emotion so keenly that a reasonable person can only hope he is terribly unhappy. Which, if this collection of short stories is any indication, he is.
