Laxatives 24/hrs before the "show" will suffice.

Just prepare as though you were about to have a colonoscopy; laxatives baby. Bisacodyl plus Poly ethylene glycol are all you need.

[b]Very sad indeed!  What a loss of a young life!

Could this have been caused by ignorance, failure or lack of skill/knowledge on the part of the Doctors to make appropriate diagnoses? It is true no one knows everything, human body is a complex thing that no one can actually fathom out, all the health issues that we suffer.

As a result, it is important where we lack knowledge/understanding of the issues, to refer the patient for their own good - you refer the case to other Doctors with the knowledge to help the patient because, life is precious and there's no time to waste when someone's  life is in the balance.

But in Nigeria, this is not the case, most Doctors have no clue about the diseases they are treating and they continue to treat the patients blindly and, to their perils.  And I ask, why do our Doctors do this, if not greed - MONEY, MONEY, and more MONEY?

People are poor and you're adding to their misery.  I see a lot of orthopaedic patients on  crutches with their limbs amputated when there's no need to do so and these Doctors do it without serious consideration of the impact on the patient's life - psychological, social, economic, family responsibility/support etc.

To have an amputee in a family, especially, the breadwinner of the household, is a massive responsibility for the whole family.

I reckon, what matters is to doctors, is to convince the patient that there's no alternative solution to their problems other than to cut-off the limbs.  In fact, if it's possible for them, they would even suggest your head be cut-off perhaps, that would solve the problem, isn't it? angry

Now, imagine how this lady complained of gastric pain for over 2 day and nothing effective was done for her.

The disease could have been anything or E-coli as it is killing people in Europe right now but if it was the case, what are the Doctors in this hospital and the authorities doing to contain the strain so that other patients/the public do not suffer?

Now, she's gone leaving a toddler without a mum, imagine that!

Personally, I am not really concerned about the husband because, I give him until after the funeral, he re-marries but what about the baby, would he get another mother? No!!!
This is so painful, there is no need for this lady to loose her life this way - no!

May, your soul rest in peace, my young lady!

ACN makes U-turn, embraces GNU *Adopts guarded participation policy
Written by Jacob Segun Olatunji, Abuja
Friday, June 3, 2011

IN a clear reversal of its earlier rigid stance on participating in the Government of National Unity (GNU) being proposed by President Goodluck Jonathan, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), has reviewed its position and is now ready to board the transformation train.

An impeccable source in the party exclusively told the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja, on Thursday, that its leadership had, however, resolved that its participation would be based on "guarded participation policy."

According to the source, "ACN is going to participate in proposed Government of National Unity (GNU) and its participation will be based on "guarded policy," that is to say, all the appointments will be routed through the party's leadership, which will serve as a clearing house.

"The president will not just go on air to announce names of just anybody for any appointment on the platform of the ACN. The cards will be placed on the table; we will know what is going to be allocated to our party. The leadership of the party will meet and search for suitable members, who can deliver the goods for such slots. That is our stand," he declared.

The Nigerian Tribune learnt that some slots comprising ministerial positions, ambassadorial seats, boards as well as other political appointments had already been set aside for the main oppositions such as the ACN, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP), Labour Party (LP) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

It was gathered that Wednesday's meeting of President Jonathan with the leadership of the main political parties, except the CPC, was part of the efforts being made to persuade the opposition groups to put the general election behind them and embrace the GNU in order to move the nation forward.

The meeting held behind closed door at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, was attended by leaders of the opposition parties, except the CPC's General Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently challenging the electoral victory of President Jonathan of the PDP at the tribunal.

Emerging from the meeting, spokesman of the ACN delegation, former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, described it as very successful and a right step in a right direction taken by President Jonathan.

The leadership of the ACN had earlier vowed to expel any of its members who "takes any appointment with the PDP-controlled government at any level," advising any of its members contemplating such appointments to first resign his/her membership of the party.

Meanwhile, a two-day retreat, being organised by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for its elected members under new political dispensation, will begin today in Abuja.

Those being expected at the retreat on the theme "Legislative and Executive Branch Collaboration: A New System for National Transformation," include President Jonathan, Vice-President Namadi Sambo, governors and National Assembly members-elect.

THERE is fire on the mountain and no one seems to care as the case of mental health receives virtually no attention in the country.
The problem we have in Nigeria is that there is no statistics officially, but as at 2007, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), there were 20 percent of Nigerians suffering mentally.

he Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mental Health Foundation, Dr. Emmanuel Owoyemi, said, “if there are depressed people with some level of insanity at the helm of affairs of a country, it will lead to economic depression because they won't do the right thing.

I mean come on, you can't make such bold statements without credible back up can you? Hmmm?

Yes, I meant that I am yet to see a real atheists of Nigerian descent besides Tai Solarin. And even Tai Solarin isnt an atheist per se.

The burden is on you to tell me why you are an atheist, not on me to prove to you why YOU ARE NOT.

You have to tell me why you think you are an atheist.

@zstranger. . . You say Nigerian atheists don't know what they are talking about. Fine. Can you explain what you understand by ATHEISISM and also explain why you think Atheists in Nigeria aren't real? Is it because they are Nigerians or perhaps they don't have "white skin"? Is this another "nothing good can come out of Nigeria" mentality?

What I understand by atheism?

Education / Would You Drop Out Of University For N10 Million? by zstranger: 5:49am On Jun 04, 2011
I have been awarded a golden ticket to the heart of Silicon Valley: the Thiel Fellowship. The catch? For two years, I cannot be enrolled as a full-time student at an academic institution. For me, that's not an issue; I believe higher education is broken.
I left college two months ago because it rewards conformity rather than independence, competition rather than collaboration, regurgitation rather than learning and theory rather than application. Our creativity, innovation and curiosity are schooled out of us.

Failure is punished instead of seen as a learning opportunity. We think of college as a stepping-stone to success rather than a means to gain knowledge. College fails to empower us with the skills necessary to become productive members of today's global entrepreneurial economy.
College is expensive. The College Board Policy Center found that the cost of public university tuition is about 3.6 times higher today than it was 30 years ago, adjusted for inflation. In the book "Academically Adrift," sociology professors Richard Arum and Josipa Roksa say that 36% of college graduates showed no improvement in critical thinking, complex reasoning or writing after four years of college. Student loan debt in the United States, unforgivable in the case of bankruptcy, outpaced credit card debt in 2010 and will top $1 trillion in 2011.
Is college worth it?

Fortunately there are productive alternatives to college. Becoming the next Mark Zuckerberg or mastering the phrase "Would you like fries with that?" are not the only options.
The success of people who never completed or attended college makes us question whether what we need to learn is taught in school. Learning by doing -- in life, not classrooms -- is the best way to turn constant iteration into true innovation. We can be productive members of society without submitting to academic or corporate institutions. We are the disruptive generation creating the "free agent economy" built by entrepreneurs, creatives, consultants and small businesses envisioned by Daniel Pink in his book, "A Whole New Mind: Why Right Brainers Will Rule the Future."
Opinion: Why liberal arts matter

We must encourage young people to consider paths outside college. That's why I'm leading UnCollege: a social movement empowering individuals to take their education beyond the classroom. Imagine if millions of my peers copying their professors' words verbatim started problem-solving in the real world. Imagine if we started our own companies, our own projects and our own organizations. Imagine if we went back to learning as practiced in French salons, gathering to discuss, challenge and support each other in improving the human condition.

A major function of college is to signal to potential employers that one is qualified to work. The Internet is replacing this signaling function. Employers are recruiting on LinkedIn, Facebook, StackOverflow and Behance. People are hiring on Twitter, selling their skills on Google, and creating personal portfolios to showcase their talent. Because we can document our accomplishments, and have them socially validated with tools such as LinkedIn Recommendations, we can turn experiences into opportunity. As more and more people graduate from college, employers are unable to discriminate among job seekers based on a college degree and can instead hire employees based on their talents.

Of course, some people want a formal education. I do not think everyone should leave college, but I challenge my peers to consider the opportunity cost of going to class. If you want to be a doctor, going to medical school is a wise choice. I do not recommend keeping cadavers in your garage. On the other hand, what else could you do during your next 50-minute class? How many e-mails could you answer? How many lines of code could you write?
Some might argue that college dropouts will sit in their parents' basements playing Halo 2, doing Jell-O shots and smoking pot. These are valid but irrelevant concerns, for the people who indulge in drugs and alcohol do so before, during and after college. It's not a question of authorities; it's a question of priorities. We who take our education outside and beyond the classroom understand how actions build a better world. We will change the world regardless of the letters after our names
