The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Thursday paraded 10 persons suspected to be yahoo boys for impersonating American soldiers fighting in Afghanistan. The suspects were paraded at the commission’s head office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Head of operation Nnaghe Obono Itam said the suspects impersonated American soldiers fighting in Afghanistan to defraud American citizens. Itam said the suspects used American tunes to extort money from their victims and warned the public against releasing their account numbers to persons. He said: “We have noticed that within the last three months, we have the issue of yahoo yahoo boys who appeared to have resurfaced again. “I am glad to say that with the partnership of the Federal SARS we were able to apprehend some of them” “The most interesting aspect of it is that we still find people that fall prey to this scam. “We have Nigerians who pretended that they are American Soldiers that came from Afghanistan and were talking to the Americans as if they are Americans soliciting for fund” “They extorted money from them through I-tunes. The kind of the I-tunes is $100. They find it difficult to collect the money from Nigeria but they collect I-tunes from them and dispose it online in dollars” “We have four of them in our custody. In a trending video posted online by one Woli Kekere, some women were caught removing about eight Derica cups from each bag of rice after which they will use a new bag to repackage it and make it look 50kg bag of rice.. Actress Yetunde Akilapa arrested for robbery again in just less than five months after being locked up for serial stealing. Yetunde was nabbed, today, at Ajao estate, off Oluwalogbon, Ketu, Lagos State, while trying to gain access into a house, with her set of master keys. She was subsequently dragged to a police station in the area, to prevent jungle justice. Back in July, 2018, the 32-year-old actress was dragged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court and charged with burglary and stealing valuables worth N7 million. . Police Prosecutor Benson Emuerhi had told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 27 at Mutairu Street, Shangisha, Ketu, at 2.10 p.m. . According to him, the accused was apprehended while trying to enter the apartment of the complainant, Adeboye Lamidi. The prosecutor also alleged that the accused, on Nov. 16, 2015 at 3.00 p.m. broke into the residence of one Oyinlola Tuga by unlocking the door with a master key. Tuga, who lives at Ayodele Okeowo St., Gbagada Soluyi in Lagos, reported that the accused stole jewellery, bags and other valuables worth N7 million. Yetunde Akilapa arrested for robbery by the police in Alade, Somolu, Lagos in February 2013. She was sent to the Kirikiri Prison and after a few months, she regained her freedom in November 2013. . In Jan. 12, 2014, she was again caught trying to steal with a bunch of master keys hidden in her brassiere at a house in Magodo Phase 2. A Nigerian man who used fake social media profiles to convince young women to send compromising images of themselves before blackmailing and raping one of them, has been jailed in the U.K. Rhys Miller Offiong, 24 was jailed for 15 years with a four-year extended licence at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, 6 December. On his release, he will be made to sign the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Offiong had pleaded guilty to one count of rape, one count of blackmail, four counts of distributing indecent images of a child, three counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress, and one count of committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence. An investigation was launched after he raped a 19-year-old woman at an address in Catford on 24 August 2017. He had met the woman online using a fake profile. . He had initially persuaded her to send intimate images to him and then set up a meeting with her. When the victim attended and realised Offiong was not the person she thought she had been engaging with online, he threatened to send the images to her friends and family if she refused to go with him. . Under duress, the woman went with him to an address in Catford where she was raped. Further investigations established two other young women who had been snared online by the convict and tricked into sending compromising images and videos of themselves to him. South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan has confirmed that the Confederation of African Football wants South Africa to step in as hosts of the Africa Cup of Nations 2019, at short notice, according to a report on South Africa’s Times Live. CAF stripped Cameroon of the AFCON 2019 hosting rights at the weekend due to delays in preparing for the continental showpiece, and the continental football governing body is now seemingly now eyeing South Africa as a replacement. Jordaan told the SAFA AGM in Sandton on Sunday that the continental football governing body has asked South Africa to seriously consider taking over as AFCON 2019 hosts. The SAFA president returned to South Africa on Sunday morning after attending Caf’s Extraordinary Executive Committee meeting in Accra‚ Ghana, where the decision to dump Cameroon was taken. The report also revealed that SAFA would meet the South African government first before making a decision on whether to accede to the request. South Africa last staged the Cup of Nations in 2013 which was won by Nigeria. A model wept in court after being charged with trying to smuggle £1.1million worth of heroin on a flight to Ireland in a suitcase. Tereza Hluskova, 22, from the Czech Republic, was stopped at Lahore airport in Pakistan as she attempted to board a flight to Dublin via Abu Dhabi. Almost nine kilograms of the Class A drug were found stashed in statues in the model’s luggage in January. Miss Hluskova broke down in tears at a hearing after she was told her trial would be postponed yet again. The model says she was in Pakistan for a modelling contract and told authorities she did not know how the heroin ended up in her suitcase. Two other men were also arrested and are facing drug trafficking charges after police went through the model’s phone. Miss Hluskova could face up to ten years in prison if she is convicted. The death penalty in Pakistan applies to those caught with over 10 kilograms of drugs. Authorities allege that Miss Kluskova had met a man in Manchester who had set up a ‘fake’ photography studio. A customs spokesman told local media that the man asked Miss Hukslova to visit Pakistan to promote a leading fashion brand in return for a big payout, according to The Sun. A customs spokesman said: ‘She came to Pakistan and resided in Gujranwala for a few days before coming to Lahore airport to fly for Abu Dhabi with the heroin bag given to her.’ In a video, released online, a Pakistani customs official is shown ‘discovering’ the drugs hidden in the suitcase while Miss Hluskova looks on. She then puts her head in her hands. She says in the video: ‘They gave me something for luggage, three statues or something. They said it was gifts. I didn’t know there was something inside’. Miss Kluskova’s trial has repeatedly been delayed and she has been on bail in Pakistan.
