End of the Race
(25th Nov. 2007)

By grace I started the race,
I’ve come this far by his grace.
Now I look at the end point in the face,
Though gradually I moved from the base,
Steadily but consciously I moved at my pace.

I’ve being through it for a while,
I’ve seen and felt a whole lot of things,
Diverse people and experiences;
Some got me fazed,
Others had me hazed,
Some got me vexed.
But in between these, I had reasons to smile
Though I knew it was for a while.

I now have multiple reasons to smile.
Not just for getting to this end,
History has been made also.
I’ve being through the fires,
I’ve walked through the cold,
Starvation shook hand with me
Yet, I stood the test of time.

Finally, I’ve been given the prize,
Yes, for being this wise.
My mum and siblings receive with joy,
The celebration goes wild.
Amidst the joy and celebration,
I have but a lamentation,
Oh, Dad left before it all happened.

I peep through my window,
Out there I see a jungle,
I can’t afford to fumble
Still by grace I’ll rise without tumble.
I’m fit to survive in that jungle,
Success there is for the strong and humble,
I’m well prepared for the struggle.
