When you do important work, work that changes things and work that matters, it's inconceivable that
the change you're trying to make will be met with
complete approval.

Trying to please everyone will water down your
efforts, frustrate your forward motion and ultimately fail.

The balancing act is to work to please precisely the right people, and just enough of them, to get your best work out the door.

Shun the non-believers.

Live more, complain less. More smiles, less
stress. Less hate, more blessed.

The problem with positive fantasies is that they allow us to anticipate success in the here and now.

However, they don't alert us to the problems we are likely to face along the way
and can leave us with less motivation—after all, it feels like we've already reached our goal.

As they say, don't give up on your dreams, but
don't fall under their spell either.

Building and nurturing communities takes work, time and money. It is also very fulfilling, profitable and lasts longer than you.

Your communities will respond to you if you (a) do great work yourself, or (b) help them in doing their's.

It is better to have a small number of people care a lot (community) than a large number of people care a little (fame).

Sometimes you will say something really small and simple, but it will fit right into an empty space in someone’s heart. Dare to reach into the darkness, to pull someone else into the light. Remember, strong people stand up for themselves, but stronger people stand up for others too, and lend a hand when they’re able.

Some relationships will be blessings, others will serve as lessons. Either way, never regret knowing someone. Everyone you encounter teaches you something important. Some people will test you, some will use you, and some will teach you; but most importantly some will bring out the best in you.

The negativity you bleed out toward others will gradually cripple your own happiness. When you truly feel comfortable with your own imperfections, you won't feel threatened or offended by the imperfections you see in other people.

So stop worrying about the flaws you see in everyone else, and focus on yourself. Let the constant growth and improvement in your own life keep you so busy that you have no time left to criticize others.
