"it was a very beautiful morning"
the winds was creating direction for the eagles to glide with finesse
and the birds were not given with the gift of a clairvoyance!
for the gory sight in the offing,
alas! the moment hit us!!
men cladded in white wrapper about their waist evade my street;
chanting war songs from the "DELTAN'S",
what a pathetic display of massacre
the street was left to relish in dirge, the remains of their deeds
next! the arsonist with vengeance on the rampage
"self acclaimed faction of the ooduas"
brandishing outdated armoury;
allucinating ones;getting you running on awol!
tribes witchhunting in the making
fingers earmarking houses
"is this ijaws"
"no, " "y, e, s"
gbamm! bloodletting, sporadic inferno overlooking our sight
a day seeming endless like, "day rapture"
a characteristically congested area suddenly turn's a buddhist monk
as the rattling of the window makes one hair stand's at the rear end!
sooner, normalcy return to our community
but the scourge of bloodletting in the name of ethnic sentiment,
remain in the hearts of the affected,
fakunle sheriff ekundayo
on the ijaw and o.p.c clash,
in ajegunle,
october 2000.
