Sept. 25 - Thousands of people are stranded as flooding in central Nigeria cuts a major north-south highway. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
Stranded in Nigeria. Thousands have no place to go after heavy flooding in in Central Nigeria blocked the main road linking the South and North. (SOUNDBITE) (English) HASSAN DEI, OFFICER OF THE FEDERAL ROAD SAFETY CORPS, LOKOJA, SAYING: "We decided to block this road in order to save lives and property, as you can see, the water has entered the road so there is no way for vehicles to be moving so we have to block that road primarily so that people, lives, properties will be saved." Many have been stranded for days. The floods are among the worst in recent decades. Homes and businesses are under water. Nigeria's rainy season stretches from May to September sometimes causing flash floods with lethal consequences.

Why doesn't the world come to an end once and for all?

What's the point of poor civilians suffering all the time?

Aren't we ready to depart from this sorrowful earth?

Would I blame all these on Jonathan's regime?

Could Jonathan be bad luck and curse to Nigeria?

Who is to blame?

Terrible! Perhaps now, the good people and government of Nigeria will borrow a leaf from elsewhere and stop paying lip service to issues of climate change. It is now here with us.

Agbididididididid.... My container ooo! My container don hang for road oooo.... Chineke mu ooooo.

The 1billion naira cassava bread question is : How are we going to prepare or possobly avert this from happening again?

Natural disaster happens and all that but cmon preventative measure is often better than ultimate cure.

Earthquake happened in Haiti, about 250 thousand people died. Relief materials were sent and their authorities kept it for themselves.

Earthquake happened in Japan and China of almost the same magnitude as that of haiti, few hundreds died and no one looted.

The problems lies in mentality of all the social strata's.

When are we going to start preparing for the future to avert utter self-destruction?

AND THIS IS A COUNTRY THAT PRODUCES 2.5 MILLION BARRELS OF OIL A DAY AMOUNTING TO AN AVERAGE OF 40 BILLION NAIRA DAILY. NOT TO TALK OF GAS AND OTHER NATURAL RESOURCES. ONE DAYS SALE OF OIL CAN REPAIR THAT ENTIRE ROAD AND CREATE BRIDGES AND CANALS FOR THE WATER, BUT COME TO THINK OF IT, IF THEY REPAIR IT, WHO WILL STEAL. WE NIGERIANS DONT DESERVE A COUNTRY AS RICH AS NIGERIA. WE DESERVE A COUNTRY SO RAVAGED AND POOR SO THAT EVERY MONKEY WILL FIND HIS TREE. THIS COUNTRY IS CURSED AND SHALL REMAIN CURSED TILL THY KINGDOM COME.

Jonathan and all the heddiots in power should not be only blamed, but should be also be dealt with.. They were warned but refused to take actions..
They feed us with corruption... They feed the masses with harsh living conditions.. They feed us with boko haram.. They sell our people to another group and now they want to flood us out of Nigeria..
This world should just end cos this heddiots will never change...
