SWIMMING AGAINST THE CURRENT

MEMORY VERSE: (Rom 12:1-2, The Message)
Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

We have become so in tune with the happenings in our society that we accept a lot of things without first questioning their origin. We imitate celebrities and pattern our lives after them thereby neglecting the values and principles of the word of God. People no longer seek guidance from the Spirit of God before taking major steps in life. Men have flowed with the current for so long that they’ve forgotten how to swim against it. We’ve become puppets whose strings are controlled by the world.

The bible calls us the light of the world. We were designed as pace setters who should show the rest of the world how life ought to be lived. It is time to stand for something else we would fall for anything. We are called to be examples to the rest of the world setting the standards and defining what the norm must be. The scripture declares that whoever has his origin in God overcomes the world because the greater one lives in him. (1John 4:4) Refuse to be tossed to and fro by the dictates of the world today but rather make known the greatness of the one who lives inside you. God bless you.

CONFESSION: The greater one lives in me therefore I am above the world's standards.

PRAYER: My light is shinning and darkness cannot overpower it in the name of Jesus.
