Dear siena, i saw the many responses you gave on car issues and i must say im impressed! God bless u. I dared to be different. I say this because i want to go to cotonou next tomorrow to acquire an Audi A4 2000 model unlike my friends who are into toyotas and hondas.but im soo confused on which of the engine type to buy. Luckily i stumbled on your post on audis in which u said you would advice he goes for the 1,6,8v or 1,8,20v of which both are 4 cylinder engines. What got me worried is where you said that the 1,8 has a DOHC,more advance and also more of a challenge to the average nigerian mecho. Other things that got me worried is that ive gone through online reviews which say that audi cars so many electrical glitches which can be tricky to diagnose. If i get to buy it eventually, how do i maintain it to get optimum performance. I don't want to regret buying this car. Advice me pls.

The Audi A4 B5 ('95 - '01) is mechanically and electronically similar to the Volkswagen Passat B5/5.5 ('96 - '04). No more difficult to look after. I4 non-turbo models are best for use in Nigeria. As I stated earlier, the 1,6 8V is less complex than the 1,8 20V. Either way, both will give good service. Treat it well, and it will reward you. Use roadside quacks, and you'll set yourself up for endless spending.

Any decent mechanic who's familiar with Volkswagen, will have no issues finding their way around any Audi. I must stress - don't use an el cheapo mechanic. Use a highly recommended Volkswagen specialist garage, or at least a garage that knows their way around Euro cars. German cars are a joy to own, and hard-wearing, as long as you don't jump out of a Honda, and expect to jump into a well-built German car, and expect to run it on a Corolla budget. It just doesn't work that way. If you're looking to run one of these cars on a shoestring, then the Audi isn't the car for you.

Good luck!
