Frankly I feel this is d best bond movie ever and daniel craig cemented his place as one of d best men to hv played the part, the movie was realistic and easy to relate to. The story was really really good and the villain- bardem put in an amazin performance. The movie was able to deliver funny one liners without apperain cheesy. And d fight scenes were great. The shanghai shots were beautiful and whoever dressed up daniel craig was a master. My only grous was d lenght of d movie, but apart from dat, this is one of the best movies of the year.

And I don't know how critics managed to fool the world that is was the best Bond movie ever.

Anyways this was all last year's disaster, hopefully future Bond movies will be way better than the massive disappointment that Skyfall was.

you said it all. Did u also know it is the bond movie with the most mistakes, like at the end part when he was under ice, came out of the water, appeared next at the church and was dry all over.
and the only three memorable stunts, beginning, middle and end. I certainly remember trying not to fall asleep at the cinema when I watched Skyfall, it was that boring.

Someone should tell the producers that we want our regular James Bond back. They must have had their fill with their so-called grittier and "realistic" Bond. Anywhere I get the chance I do not hesitate to call for the removal of Daniel Craig, heck he has hand his 3 movies run, good for him, now can someone show him the way out? I wish I could unsee Skyfall and not have my memories of a smooth and suave Bond packing the coolest gadgets taking on the baddest villains with the hottest girls by his side tarnished so unkindly.

Oh Nigerians do know good movies, however, we're failing to read between the lines of what they did with Skyfall. What a lot of people don't see (as per we Naija people no dey do long term planning) is they had to do something to kickstart the new generation of Bond films. Will they go back to big explosions, super gadgets, hot babes and all? Most probably (I personally hope so too because they were mad fun)! They cleverly used the 'less-is-more' filmmaking-tactic to open up a whole new set of characters, set of films and so on.
We Nigerians are too blind to see far. We're all about the now, now, now... never thinking of tomorrow.

I guess we all love art and are probaly artists in our own way but after all is said and done filmmaking is a 'business'. Yes Skyfall is controversial when it comes to Bond films but they sure well got you & the world talking and the world will completely be dropping their dollars to see the next one... everyone in this thread included (well except for the piracy-is-my-life people).

There have been several Bond movies that didn't dwell on the cold war to be successful and interesting.

It is clear that Skyfall is the best Bond movie OR one of the worst ever made depending on who one asks. There is no in-between. I belong to the camp of people who were unimpressed by it, we are the minority here. Personally I'll be skipping any future Bond movies starring Daniel Craig,(he has had his 3 Bond movies, I think his contract should have expired unless the producers think otherwise) I managed to tolerate his performance in his other Bond movies but Skyfall was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. . . I could not for the life of me understand why Bond had to take the villain to the Scottish highlands for the last battle. In the movie there was this mystery and veil around the term "Skyfall" - how it related to Bond and affected the theme of the movie remained unexplained, in fact it was a subplot that was not developed at all, yet the movie was supposed to be centered around it. I found the Shanghai fight scene that everyone else was wowing about just ordinary, one of my biggest gripe about the movie was that it was heavy on un-witty sleep inducing dialogue.

There was nothing futuristic about Skyfall, that one was clear. Giving the franchise new direction is alright, lets just hope by new direction they won't turn Bond into an absolute bore.

That it was the name of the house he grew up in was clear. How and why Skyfall was the theme for the movie wasn't.

Why drag the gay villain there to battle? Did the killing of this particular villain there mark a turning point in Bond's life other than perhaps the spot where M died?

Why the reluctance to answer questions relating to Skyfall during his assessment at Mi6? (He had made it such a big deal by leaving the office when Skyfall was mentioned)

I understand all you are saying (it wasn't clear to me in the other post I responded too).

CHANGE is inevitable... some people won't like it and some people will. James Bond films have been going on for 50yrs thru various generations (remember I mentioned the simple truth of filmmaking is - it a business first)
And one of the reasons we love films/the cinema experience is escapism; sensible or not. The first James Bond film was full of exotic travel, fast cars, technology (gadgets), sex and so on during the reality of a broke-a$$ post-war Britain - people loved it.
This film was basically saying "Oh boy, this thing don old." And they, at the expense of film plot, had to usher in a complete rethink of what to do with the franchise - there are a number of hints in the film IMO.
MI6 got so battered they had to end up in Churchill's bunker - Bond then turned into Churchill - an old alcoholic pushing on with blind patriotism. The bad guy in the film said something to Bond like "You're so messed up and old held together by booze and pills" or something like that and then even when 'M' died Bond inherited her 'table-top Churchill dog'. Na just hints of this whole franchise thing don old they bin dey drop.

Oh and the new 'Q'. The old 'Q' was always yabbing Bond asking him to grow up and then Bond met this new 'Q'... somborri wey him balls nefa drop sef. Fifty years done and they are looking to the next generations that will do the next 50 yrs - na business and most of us here are going to be dead by then.

Everybody knows this film, like most others, had flaws and plot holes. Remember the financial problems with MGM and the franchise could have died then? Well it seems the franchise is rebooting. We can go with the flow or just nag and grumble. Personally I absolutely love it because what I see is the long-term business plan they did.

Good movie, good critic's rating, whooping boxOffice of $304m in U.S and $600k Nigeria (i think over $1bn worldwide) every other kinks in the subplot can be forgiven as long as we all enjoyed the movie.

I hope people stop judging James Bond movies based on Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan or Sean Connery's era. That I prefer Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan as James Bond won't make me say a good movie (Skyfall) is a bad movie. The franchise has moved on. I don't get the Bond feel again watching Bond films. But I still enjoy watching them like I enjoy watching Fast Five or X-Men.

Skyfall is a very good movie. There's no doubt about that.

We no dey BUY... na download we dey download. Even some raggedy a$$ countries with people eating sand there dey buy cinema ticket pass us. Nigeria is not a place you can make jack on your film.
