The Russian presidential aircraft is the official aircraft of the President of Russia, when he flies aboard. All aircraft in the Russian presidential fleet are operated by GTK Rossiya.

The main presidential aircraft is the four-engined, long-range, widebody Ilyushin Il-96-300PU, a highly-modified Il-96, with the two last letters standing for "Command Point" in Russian. Yup The bolded part of your statement is very correct. I am not saying much but Air force One is an aged Aircraft where A380 stands. The italicized part of your post is arrant nonsense! The Airbus A380 being sold to the Royals is a 571t Max Ramp Weight (MRW), 569t MTOW which is well below the upscaled MRW of the A380. What most people may not know is A380 there is an extended variant of the A380 which was ment to be the freighter version with MTOW of 600t but was 'canned'

The Qataris A340 customization is far modern than the Air Force One!

Take it from me, 747-8I is a doomed project, even though it was meant to be decoy to keep Boeing in the picture of the biggies. Seat per mile cost of the 747-8I is lower or equal to that of a B777-3ER, ( not my words but that of Boeing technical director). 747-8I Seat per mile cost is equal to that of B777-3ER when you opt for the option with additional fuel tank at the HTP to give additional range.

Dreamliner is a technology demonstration which has boxed Boeing to a tight corner! B777X EVO announcement is due for FY13 but with dreamliner still draining the banks rather than swelling it, not one is sure if B77XX EVO launch will finally go ahead by FY13 ending.

manny4life: @topic, the Air force One is simply an amazing aircraft, despite that it takeoff and lands in busy airspace such as Washington DC, you'll never hear that airports were shut down because dignitaries were moving. Although enthusiast such as myself like to capture the those very lovely moment but because the flight itinerary isn't published, makes it hard to video such. Don't forget, the airplane ALWAYS has escorts with the at all times.

No,It doesnt fly with escorts always.Its only in the event of a security threat that F-16s accompany it.for instance,during the 9-11 attacks,the pilot requested for fighter jets.The F-16s can always be scrambled from the nearest airforce base in the event of an attack.Its only the marine one that flies with three helicopters at a time,and that is intended as a decoy.
