Who has left his wife and children, if I may ask? undecided

Jesus spoke in parable and what he mean by that statement is, after self-sacrifice i.e leaving your households, everything in your life like joy, happiness etcetra would multiply.

Is It Right To Discipline Our Children?

My wife and I do not agree on the matter of disciplining our children. I maintain that a child needs a firm hand and a spanking now and then. My wife says that all they need is love and understanding. Who is right?

Discipline and love are related. They are two sides of the same coin. Correct discipline is an act of love. "The Lord disciplines those He loves," says the Bible (Hebrews 12:6). The purpose of discipline is not only correction. It is to help a child conform to God's standard so that the child will be able to lead a happy and productive life.

But there must be the right kind of discipline and parents must agree on it. A child will sometimes exploit different approaches to discipline by his parents and that could be damaging to your child and to each of you.

One of our children rarely needed to be disciplined. Even if I spoke to her reprovingly, her heart would be broken. Another of our children only responded to punitive discipline, and paid little attention to the "soft reproof." I think it is hard to lay down any hard and fast rules because children vary so much. The Bible teaches that discipline should be used when required. But it suggests that discipline and love must go hand in hand. It says: "For whom the Lord loves, he corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delights" (Proverbs 3:12).

It is much easier on the nerves to just let children go, than to plan and execute the kind of discipline they need. But greater than discipline is the power of a good example. Children are more impressed by conduct they can see than by lectures and spankings. If the parents would live the Christian life before them, it would have a tremendous influence upon their children.

Matthew 19:29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or
mother or children or lands, for my name's sake, will receive a
hundredfold(in this life) AND will inherit eternal life(inherit eternal life for obedience of the gospel) .

And every one that hath forsaken houses :
In the days of Jesus, those
who followed him were obliged, generally, to forsake houses and
home, and to attend him.the disciples has family, but they forsake them and follow jesus.

For my name's sake :
From attachment to me. Mark adds, "and for the
gospel's;" that is, from obedience to the requirements of the gospel,
and love for the service of the gospel.

Shall receive a hundred-fold - Mark says "a hundred-fold now in this
time, houses, and brethren, and sisters," etc. A hundred-fold means a
hundred times as much. These are not promised as a part of the reward; but
amid their trials and persecutions they should find reward and peace.

Luke 18:29-30
And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times more IN THIS TIME,
and in the age to come eternal life.”

Philippians 3:8
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of
knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of
all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
Luke 14:26
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother
and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own
life, he cannot be my disciple.
Mark 10:29-30
Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this
time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and
lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.
Matthew 16:25
For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life
for my sake will find it.
1 Peter 4:14
If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the
Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
Matthew 10:37-38
Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me,
and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of
me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy
of me.

Ajibam:

I never mastur_bated, but I was close to it before God saved me..This is how I went about it!

First, go to God.. In my own case, I fasted then pray fervently for deliverance from the bondage..
Secondly I do my own part by stopping anything that can raise my libido like pornography, romance and even to the extent of stopping all ungodly relationship I was into..
If am alone and I want to start thinking dirty, I will carry my pc and play gospel songs.. Doing all this with the help of God delivered me.. Am a living witness that disciples people on it.. So if you go through the above steps, with your determination to drop it, you will be saved.
Shalom
I haven't fasted in a couple of months. I will try that.

You are also right...there is most at-times an underlying cause which in my case was romance novels. But by His grace and I stopped reading them for 2 years now and I was able to overcome.

I can't pinpoint the cause now...I believe I will find a way again and I will fast and pray specifically again for deliverance.

The bible says we are tempted when we are drawn away by our desires. I don't think I lust after s'ex but that would be the only reason why I would be tempted by masturbat'n. So my prayers would have to deal with the lust for fornication also.

God bless you for your help.

Mintayo:

Hello. Prayers, fasting plus delieverance are not enought to overcome ma.sturbation,i guessed you must have done a bulk of that. Masturb.ation is a spirit that won't go easily. You have to cast it out and ask it never to return again.
I have some tips in my diary, when i am with it,i will let you know.
Don't forget, study the word also, cleanse urself with the blood of Jesus from every unclean spirit. Ask Jesus to help you, trust me,you can't help yourself, remind yourself that you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, and when the urge comes, tell the spirit that Jesus is your Lord, and since He is your Lord, masturbatio.n cannot lord it over you. Be determined and get lost among believers.
May God help us all.

Thank you. I mean to get busy and get lost in church activities so i have no time to entertain or open the door to such spirits again.

Yes. Not only in church, just find something that will take your time and please don't be alone for a long time, meditate on some Bible verses like Philipians 4:8, Romans 12:1-2. Remind yourself that your body is God's temple. Also do away with any indecency materials, even though some still do it without watching or reading such materials, but that's a start. Lastly, pray at all time.
God help us all.
Good morning house.

Good day my good people of Naira Land.
I have this question since my Childhood and I will be glad to get sincere Answers to it. Is there any thing wrong in Eating Pork (PIG) or DOG meat ? Is it a natural taboo or a religious forbidding ? I know is common amongst some ethnic groups {Apology to these States £ Since my Childhood I have been hearing that Calabar and Ondo people like eating Dog meat and Pork .} If these People can eat it without hatred of stigmatisation from general public and they even went on to local communities to buy dog and kill it on Sunday to drink PALM WINE at a Joint.
What is your view in Eating Pork meat or Dog Meat.
Is a Religious Taboo¿? or Personal Hatred. Pls be Objective in your view.
GOD SAID EVERYTHING I CREATED IS GOOD.

Jews and muslims do not eat pork out of religious doctrine from the Old testament and Quran.
Some cultures see pigs as dirty
Even some few christians wont eat pork because of the stigmatization

Americans generally dislike dog-eating. There was an uproar when they heard that Obama ate dog meat once.
Also, in Islam dogs are not even allowed to be kept as pets and they do not meet the criteria for accepted meat
Some Jews too will argue that dog meat isnt kosher.

However, my advice is that as long as the meat does not harm the body, man must wack!!!!!!

Hi guys smiley

So sorry I've been away. I apologize to wveryone that looked out for the continuation of this series and didn't find it. No, I didn't give up on it.

This period is filled with a lot of mental work for me. Sometimes, it gets very very intense and allows me no room for any other kind of work. And the point at which we have arrived in the series is critical. I can't afford to get it wrong. So I must be able to pay very good attention to it when I write.

I had meant to take it last for a reason. When you talk about the Destiny of Christians, that picture God had in His mind, in a manner of speaking, when He set out to create everything you rouse some powerful opposition. Satan is not indifferent to that Destiny, you see. Just read Revelation 12 and you'll see what I'm saying. So it is the most sensitive part of this work.

But I don't want to leave off continuing the work much longer so here I am. I may not be able to post as often as I did before but this series will be diligently pursued until it is finished.

The following was the last entry in the series. That's where I'll be picking up from in the next post.

ihedinobi2:
LESSON SEVENTEEN...

So we know what the Christ is. As Paul put it, it is God's means of "reconciling all things to Himself".

But what does that mean for the Christian?

The Head and the Body make one entity not two. While the Body can accomplish nothing by itself and is in fact dead without the Head, the Head is remarkably limited without a body to use to accomplish its purposes and desires.

Carry that analogy over to Christ and Christians. Now, did you read Revelation again? It's an exciting and short book. It's not as hard to read as some other books in the Bible, it's like reading a thriller, only half the time you don't know what it's saying even though it's exciting even then.

Now it says that there was someone sitting on the throne in heaven (Rev 4:2,3). Then the Lamb showed up (5:6). This Lamb is found in the midst of the Throne a lot of the time that He's in view. Now look closely at the picture that John paints. Where are the 24 elders and 4 "living creatures"?

And who are they? Pay attention to the things that they say and try to note what things they say that are unique to them alone.
Re: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by ihedinobi2: 9:20am On Nov 17, 2014
LESSON EIGHTEEN.....

In Revelation 3:21, Jesus said that He would grant the overcomer the right to sit with Him in His Throne as He Himself sits with His Father in His Father's Throne having also acquired the right of the overcomer Himself.

Note that the four beasts and the twenty-four elders, while often described as standing and sitting, respectively, round the Throne are also described as being, with the Lamb, in the MIDST (or middle) of the Throne.

These are sharers of the Throne's authority with the Lamb. And you will remember that the Throne was not empty before the Lamb came to be seen in it, see Revelation 4. I think you'll notice something curious too. That first person in the Throne (Rev 4:2,3) is never heard to speak. Try and think about why.

Even the Lamb Himself is not seen to speak either. Who in fact do you see speaking throughout Revelation? Who is in the forefront of the execution of the judgments of The Throne? Who practically authorizes the angels to move? Who hands them the bowls of wrath?

The four living ones and the twenty-four elders.

Who are they? You can tell by how they speak. They say something that no other group of persons in the picture says. They talk of themselves as redeemed out of the earth and the nations by the blood of the Lamb. What does that tell you?

These two are symbols or parables of the Church. Think about that. What does that say to you?

In the middle of the greatest Throne, the seat of the highest Power in every realm are One of great magnificence, the Lamb, the four "Livings" and the twenty-four elders.

Compare that with Jesus's promise that His Power and Authority will be shared with those who overcome.

And consider very carefully what this must mean for the believer living in today's world.

We are coming to the end of this part and the most critical.
