It baffles me how people are shouting about the supposed mayan prediction; that the world will end on 21/12/12. Please, who did the Mayans tell that the world will end on that day? Or any proof to back that up?
Ancient Maya belief that the end of a 13- b'ak'tun cycle (a 5,125 year period) signifies the end of a "World Age" and the beginning of a new one! This doesn't not mean Armageddon as falsely believed! Quiet alright, according to Mayan holy Book "Popol Vuh", we are currently living in the 'fifth age', and that the 13th B'ak'tun will end on December 20, 2012; and the 14th B'ak'tun will begin on 21st December 2012. (The 6th Age)!
The issue of apocalypse can be inferred from the fact that whenever "an age" ends, some cataclysmic events do happen! It might interest us to know that the previous Maya age ended with The Great Flood (Bible calls it Noah's flood). So people might understandably be apprehensive about how this age will end! The "Popol Vuh" believes it will be through fire/ earthquake! (I think that gave Roland Emmerich the concept for the movie: 2012).
Whatever happens, THEY NEVER SAID THE WORLD WILL END! Some bad asz stuff MIGHT happen, but definitely, the world continues!
