Jabi is a residential district that provides a mixuture of homes for high to middle income earners and is also a commercial meeting point in Abuja.

It is a town you’ll find nestled between Utako and Life Camp after driving from Berger towards the airport road or it can be described as close to Kado district along the busy highway connecting Gwarinpa with Central Area.

The quieter parts of Jabi District are where you’ll find impressive mansions, home to some of Abuja’s young yet comfotably rich. Here the roads are well tarred with buildings along both sides of the roads with some trees neatly arranged along the winding driveways.

At the other end of Jabi there is a less serene environment. Heavy traffic and constant commercial activities make this area a notorious breeding ground for motor touts and tricycle riders who often show little regard for other road users. Hawkers, artisans, commercial bus operators and a large number of commuters are usual sights you’ll find around this surburb.

Land Marks

Jabi Garage/Park is the largest interstate bus park in Abuja where you can find a vehicle going to any part of Nigeria from Abuja. This is the major attraction for people who come to this district. Another popular Landmark is the Jabi Market which like the park is very rowdy and a major commercial point. Another landmark is Chidda Hotel and the AP filling station which is easily recognized by any Abuja Taxi driver you ask.

Social Life

Apart from commercial activities which usually happen till late in the evening, Jabi is a sleepy town. Most residents who want to enjoy social life have to leave the district to head to more vibrant parts of town such as Wuse 2, Garki and Maitama. The Markets near by offer an affordable option for residents to Utako and Wuse Markets which are slightly more expensive. There are very few parks, eateries and hotels in this district.

Jabi Trivia: TheThisday Abuja Bomb blast of April 2012 happened in Jabi along the busy Jabi Airport road.

Jabi is a highbrow area in the city. Large mansions, open spaces and lots of greenery are all accurate descriptions of Jabi. The neighborhood offers plenty to do with various eating and social spots.
