Kendzyma:
let x=tense digit,y=unit digit
frm d first sentence
3x=2y-1
2y-3x=1.......eq 1
frm d second sentence
d original digit will b (10x+y)..
Confused?...ok lets tak 21 for example,its d same az 10*2+1*1 where 2 is d tense digit and 1 is d unit digit...
So frm d sec statment
10y+x=2(10x+y)-17
8y-19x=-17.....eq 2
solvin equation 1 and 2 simultanously
x=3 and y=5
hence d 2 digit num =35
..d sec question az been delt wit.

Tanks so much sir,

Profit made = 15000- 5000= 10,000 naira. It is this 10,000 that was shared in the ratio 2:3.

The first bro will receive 2/5 * 10000= 4000 naira.
The second bro will receive 3/5* 10000= 6000 naira.
Therefore the difference is 6000-4000= 2000 naira.

The side of the original square be X.
Original area of the square is (X)^2.
A part of it is incresed by 20% to make the lenght. Therefore, the new lenght is (20/100*X ) + X= x/5 +x = 6x/5
Likewise, the new breadth is X - ( 20/100*x) since ot was decreased.
Therefore , the new breadth is x/1 - x/ 5= 4x /5.

Now , area if the rectangle = lenght * breadth = 6x/5 * 4x/5 = (24x^2)/ 25.
Ratio of area of rectangle to square = (24x^2/25 )/ (x^2/1)= 24x^2/25 * 1/x^2=24/25. Therefore, the ratio is 24:25.

his income for 20weeks = 20 x 20 = #400
the next 24 = 24 x 36 = #864
let the income for the 8weeks be x
(400 + 864 + x)/52 = 30
52 is the total number of weeks
x = #296.
He is going to earn a total of #296 for the remaining 8weeks.
I believe you can continue from here.

I am going to use Physics concept to solve this:
let the unknown be x,
(376-54)/(118-54) = (60,000-30,000)/(x-30,000)
x is approximately N35,962

Lemme also drop mine. Btw, its off head assumption, but its a lil bit realistic.
Assuming that the rate of outflow of water from a tank of capacity 2500 dm3 as a result of a hole at the base of the tank is directly proportional to the volume of water in it at each point in time, if it takes 10 hours for the water to drop from full capacity to 1%, find
A) how long it'll take to drop to 10%
B) the volume of water left after 1 hour
C) the volume of water left after 9 hours
In short in a tabular form, show the % of amount left for each of the first ten hours.
*the solution is in the thinking*

well pi is not 3.142,its 3.14259..........,ths only an approximation,and you cannot prove it if you cannot find an infinite series for cos theta, i have tried deriving the value of pi from analysing a sector of a circle and its the value is cos theta * 180/(90-theta) as theta approaches 90 degrees,in fact try it,it works especially numbers very close to 90,you are free to ask further questions

let rate =r and volume =v
R is proportional to V
R1/V1 = R2/V2
at the point where it drops to 1%,the rate is (99/100*2500)/10
rate=247.5
but the volume at that point is 2500-2475=25
when the level drops to 10% volume=(10% of 2500)=250
247.5/25=R2/250 ,R1 =2475
R1 = Volume out/ total time
2475 = 250/total time
total time taken to reduce to 10% = 6.1 minutes

That's why it is a problem. Try to figure it out.

benji93:

at the point where it drops to 1%,the rate is (1/100*2500)/10
rate=2.5
but the volume at that point is 2500-25=2475
when the level drops to 10% volume=(90% of 2500)=2250

Your work shows that you misinterpreted “a drop to 1%” as “a drop by 1%”. These are two different statement. Give it a try once again.
