Catalonia is a region in Spain. They have their own Catalan language, apart from Spanish. The Catalans have been agitating for independence from Spain. Barcelona is a prominent Catalan city.
just like massob is doing in naijah. I hope Biafra will also take that bold step and play international friendlies. This also shows the level of civilization there. At least there will be no arrest or molestation of Catalonians by the police

Unlike Biafra, i think Catalonia is somewhat independent. It's similar to what you have in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

But what surprises me is that a lot of Spain's major players are from this region. Are they not supposed to be minorities?

isquar3d3: this is not totally true. If u know any thing about the politics of Spain, you'll know that this match is more than just a mere friendly. It is making a political statement. This is also Cryuff's last match in charge and he wants to win. Unlike our big boys over here, the barca boys will play their hearts out. The stadium wil be filled to the brim with chanting Catalans who want independence from Spain. The barcelona team is like a goddess to them. Football is a means by which they plan to show that they can be self sufficient as a nation. It's gonna be HOT! Sorry 4 almost derailing the thread.
really want to know.....what will happen to La Liga if catalonia eventually gain independence from spain?

The Catalonia government said they will either join the French league or remain in the La Liga.

You have just spoken my mind. Just imagine, the catalonians are fighting for independence and there is no form of killing, arrest etc.... Nigeria should grow up.

The much anticipated monster friendly between Nigeria and Catalonia will now be carried live today on SuperSport’s Channel 9 at 6 PM South African time and 7 PM Nigerian time.
In South Africa it will be on Channel 4.

You can also follow the live commentary

Catalonia vs Nigeria - Text Commentary

The game, billed for Espanyol's Cornella-El Prat Stadium, will be the second time both teams will confront each other at any level.
In the first-ever meeting the Seleccio Catalana thumped the Super Eagles 5-0 at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on December 22, 1998.

While Keshi is down playing a revenge factor a win for the West Africans would go along way in helping shape their confidence for Afcon 2013.

Supesport.com is also happy to report that the second tune up against Cape Verde’s Blue Sharks will also be shown live.
