Villagers from India's Santipur, on the Bhutan border, have beaten leading Assam politician, Bikram Singh Brahma, after he allegedly raped a woman in her home at 2am. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said anyone found guilty of rape 'would not be spared, whether he is a Congressman or not.'
