Which aspect of IT are you looking at? IT is very wide. Networking, database Management, programming, engineering, website design or do you want to specialise in the use of a particular one that is bank related or accounting related? Which?

1. are your currently working as a banker, or you read Banking & Finance?

2. what roles/functions have your previous jobs entailed?

3. what aspects of IT make you happy/do you find interesting?

Am presenting working as a marketer in the bank and I studied banking and finance. Have about 6 yrs experience in the banking industry but I feel I have a flair for the IT aspect. Will love to diversify into IT as it relates to the banking industry.

all the above listed areas of IT are related to banking. You still need to specify which.
That being said, banks have their internal IT department that handle the IT related jobs. You can learn these jobs and join them. Or are you looking at starting your own thing, you can learn programming and write programmes for community banks.

Well, since you work with a bank, you can stick to financial solutions. Check out ERP products and services.
An example is www.openerp.com they have a partnership programme and have packaged training for those who intend doing business with them.

As a banker, you'll probably have around you, people who run businesses in the areas of Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Warehousing, etc., with some experience as an ERP expert, you can serve these clients and earn cool money on this well polished untapped part of the I.T. market in Nigeria.

Hope this helps you find what you want.
