For the Doctors in the house,is it true that for sero discordiant couples, being on ARV for 6Months reduces HIV transmission risk to uninfected partner?is it for condom use or unprotected sex??
Re: HIV Transmission by plendil: 6:28pm On Jan 06, 2013
It's actually for unprotected sex, and it was based on a study carried out some time ago. However I should add that other criteria were that the partner must have very low viral load, and must not have any STI, which of course increases the risk of transmission.

Nonetheless discordant couples are advised to still use condoms.

It well documented that the lower the viral load, the lower the risk of transmission.
