this has been debated rather too often.

in audio...
one bar is a sentence in lyrical hiphop songs. bars are hence sentences that rhyme with each other
300 bars is 300 sentences that rhyme, not all of them rhyming (you get my drift)

in Music notation, not just rap

There are 4 beats to every 'bar'. Bars in the rap music context are the lyrics that you can say over 4 beats. The amount of bars you can spit depend on how fast you can rap your lyrics. Most lyricists use a 16 bar for 1 verse of a song. Whilst singers commonly use 8 bar verses. Although there is a lot of variation.

so it was previously agreed here that one line is one bar... though some even use up to 4lines and call it a bar very often than not
other texting sites take 2lines as one bar

so until a general congress of Nairaland RBS make a consensus, use your discretion so you dont end up stretching or under scripting

Yeah, Ojoawo is right. In Ckushy's brawl with Fuckyouhard, he thought one bar is one line and ended up dropping 10 bars/20 lines from the NL perspective

Nah! I don't think so. The NL style was birthed by Ibime himself. I've seen his old verses as far back as 2008. He was doing, at least, 3 lines for one bar

Mind you, the forward slash (/) is used to mark a line. Normally, it's not supposed be more than 3 or 4 lines per bar in a battle verse, otherwise you'd be stretching. But you can go as long as u like in ciphers
When I newly came it took me time to adapt, cos I was used to using two rhyme scheme in one bar. I still do it at times though

go and read ibime battles very well, he takes what you just referred to as "ibime style" one bar as two bars....
check out his battle with U3 where U3 got accused of stretching, you'll get the concept

i aint saying its right or wrong or anyfin.... am only saying on here, nothing is scripted in stone about the issue

One bar is one line. The 2 lines = 1 bar thingy is a textcee misconception.

Each traditional (New York) hip hop beat follows four counts. Each count to 4 is one bar.

1,2,3,4/
1,2,3,4/
1,2,3,4/

Textcees stretch so they can display their multis and set up their punches properly. You can either keep to the beat using short lines and lose points for multis and flow. . . . OR. . . . many textcees stretch and use 3 or 4 audio bars for every 2 textcee lines. . . .

It's not Nairaland style. It's Dirty South cadence which emcees have been using before there was ever anything like textceeing. I use it in battles, not necessarily in freestyles. It helps me stretch my build up without committing any technical fouls.

Dirty South beat has a 6 count (or 3 count) cadence per bar. Using Dirty South cadence, you can build up better and score points on 'multis' without overstepping the line limit.

Every count to 2 or 3 can be followed with a slash, so I often use the format:

1, 2/ 3, 4/ 5, 6/
1, 2, 3/ 4, 5, 6/

But from Ibime's explanation that "1 line" can be broken down to 4 or six rhymes, using the forward slash pattern! And to use the 6, ur rhymes should be shorter than as u'd use it in 4. But if u don't use the slash method, u must do at least 4 multies in that 1 line. Now I get it
