The Push For PIDGIN As Nigeria's Second National Language by luvablesam(m): 10:50am On Jan 12, 2013
Pidgin has always been considered to be an informal language amongst Nigerians mostly of the south-southern extracts but more recently the language has gradually gained momentum and popularity amongst other Nigerians from the east to the north and even now the south western part of the nation. It has even gotten more attention from the youth who see the language as been cool, freer and easier to relate to,not leaving out the market women and artisans who trade or conduct their businesses in basically Pidgin english not leaving out other spheres of the society that are embracing the language more. The BBC in recent years have sponsored numerous programmes like 'wetin dey' to educate and entertain people same goes for a chinese institute that sends their citizens to Nigeria to learn Pidgin English so as to be able to broadcast in Pidgin in thier state owned broadcast networks not forgeting that More annd more Nigerian owned Pidgin TV and radio broadcast stations are opening nationwide.

Some critics of the language would say its a language for low lives and largely unstructured, my answer to which is; who structures languages if not humans? and for those whose who say its for the low lifes in society well its a simple answer, its either they are too blind to recognise the enomous influence Pidgin is gaining annd the number of non-Nigerians who crave to learn the Nigerian type of Pidgin or they simply just live in the Past.

My contri pepo make una abeg join me make we try push Pidgin as our secon nationa language
