Issue With 2007 Nissan Sentra Se-r by Nobody: 11:53pm On Jan 13, 2013
Was driving along a freeway and suddenly the "service engine soon" light came on, all of a sudden the car won't respond to the accelerator and the car begins to drop speed. It moves very slowly and has below 1000 rounds per minute and doesn't go above that when you floor the gas. It starts up and does every other thing normally, but won't accelerate..any idea what could be wrong?

your car has gone into LIMP MODE its means there is something wrong so the car is guards its self by allowing a certain speed/revs to allow you to drive home or to the garage

let the car be scanned results will point to what is wrong

Could it be your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)? Never heard of such symptom, but only the TPS could come to my mind.

But in my car, if i disconnect the throttle switch, the engine would still rev when accelerated, except that the rpm will be high at idle. I believe my cars electrical system are different from yours.

Lets wait and hear from others. But i would advice you scan the car. Even though the warning light is on, i hope the throttle cable is still in tack? Or is your thottle cableless?

For a Peugeot with AL4 auto trans, the transmission will go into Limp mode, if the trans ECU detects that the trans is failing or about to fail. Meaning it will be giving a similar symptom like yours. But in Peugeot case, i think the engine can still rev but the car wont move, i think.

Anyway, am not into Japs. I believe other Japs users could have experienced the same issue, if its a common problem.

Ikenna.

The SES light did come up a few days back and I took it to my electrician who used the OBD-II to scan and he "claimed" to have corrected it..It worked fine all along(for like the past 3 days) and it came up with that now. I was told that the SES light doesn't really mean anything serious. Maybe just some fluids or related issue but not complex..same doesn't seem to be the case with me..please I need more info and probably the extent of likely damage before I take a mechanic there.

Its not so expensive man, but would still love to get the scanner. Any idea what the cost is and how I can get it? Thanks

25k for scanner.
08022228273.
And FYI, the 07 Sentra is more complicated than previous models and it has the CVT transmission.
Do NOT give it to just any mechanic to fool around with or you will be left with a hefty repair bill.
If you are in Lagos, give me a call. I suspect your MAF sensor is bad but a scan will confirm.
Re: Issue With 2007 Nissan Sentra Se-r by Nobody: 11:30am On Jan 14, 2013
I got my mechanic to scan it and it says :P2101
TAC motor CKT range/perf
In response to the question asked earlier, my car uses an electronic(cableless) throttle.
Did a few research on my own and I think its a problem with the throttle actuator control.. Generally,it seems to be the ECM. Would get a specialist to look @ it. Would get back to you concerning the scanner Thanks

Usually, that code is a fluke.
Erase the code. If it comes back then effect a repair.
In all the time I have spent fixing Nissans Ive never had to do anything more than a reset and accelerator pedal relearn for this code.
It never comes back.

Okay, thanks a lot.. Any idea what causes it?
Re: Issue With 2007 Nissan Sentra Se-r by nissparts(m): 11:51am On Jan 14, 2013
Can be just a glitch in the system. Not really sure why it occurs once and then nothing.
In most cases though it occurs after some recent work done on the car.
Re: Issue With 2007 Nissan Sentra Se-r by Nobody: 11:53am On Jan 14, 2013
Rightly said, there was a repair work done recently on the car. But it was on the rear end of the car(back tyres) after which the SES light came on.
About the CKT range/perf, any idea what that might be or its all together?
Re: Issue With 2007 Nissan Sentra Se-r by Nobody: 2:40pm On Jan 14, 2013
Turns out my throttle actuator control is faulty..I'll have to replace.

Urgent advise needed so I don't hurt the car. I changed the MAF sensor which was bad, everything seems to work fine, except I had over revving yesterday, the reving seems to be reduced today. Much reduced and closer to normal, just wondering if I need to re-program the throttle or let it adjust automatically after sometime.

Just as I said, right?
Now, you need to do an accelerator pedal re-learn and idle relearn.
Google it.
The rev will get back to normal afterwards.
