It seems, man angel, that you've made a few friends here who would like to help you learn to speak and write French! By the way, 7eleven, the actual pronunciation or "Robert" is not "Robel," but rather, "ro-BAIRR." However, I can see that you might think that such is the case. The letter "t" is not distinctly pronounced, and the letter "r" is articulated in a uvular manner, i.e., in the back of the throat, as opposed to the front-of-the-mouth "r" in English. Indeed, the letter "r" in French is one of the most distinctive sounds in the language. |

mayrho: self learning is not alway the best in learning languages especially french language whose pronounciation is quite different from the way it being spelt e.g 'eau, eaux, an, en, etc have the sound of 'o' like 'cadeau' pronounce as 'cado' or 'deux' as 'do' except where the following word start with a vowel letter or h mute. the best way will be joining a class and i will recommend Alliance Francaise, go there and learn french the french way 1 Like |

Re: Where Can I Learn French? by kevoh(m): 2:27pm On Apr 02, 2009 |
The best way to learn how to 'speak' a language is to be in an environnement where that language is spoken regularly, take lagos for example there are a lot of non yorubas there who can speak yoruba fluently, Like the others have said, the french village in badagry is a good idea. If you have started taking lessons, find movies especially Nigerian movies that have french subtitles and vice versa, I've seen some of our movies on Africable (a francophone cable channel like Africa magic) with french subtitles so the VCD's shouldn't be hard to find in alaba market or one of those markets where Nigerian movies are sold. Good Luck! My first french sentence: ça va bien merci et vous? ! at least I try na! |

Re: Where Can I Learn French? by Beline(f): 2:43pm On Apr 02, 2009 |

Re: Where Can I Learn French? by kevoh(m): 2:58pm On Apr 02, 2009 |
@ beline Hope u don't mind me correcting your french,i'm not perfect too just having fun that's all! |
Re: Where Can I Learn French? by Beline(f): 3:24pm On Apr 02, 2009 |

ou habitez vous et vous habitez d'ou est la meme chose on peut dire 'Moi, je n'en sais rien, ou Je n'en sais rien, moi' it is a pity that I dont know how to type with accent, your used of accent is quite wrong. you only use cedille when O or A is at the front of C to make the sound soft like in garcon the accent will make the con sound as son. merci with accent cedille mean mercy but without an accent it means thank you in french we have five accents: a. grave ` b. argu ´ (just like grave accent but in an opposite direction) c. circonflexe ^ d. trema ¨ (superscript double dot) and e. cedille ¸ (just like comma attached with letter c) The cedille ¸ (cedilla) is found only on the letter C. It changes a hard C sound (like K) into a soft C sound (like S). pour le travail chercher les societe internationale, la plupart besoin les gens qui peut parle en deux langue et pour ingenieur ca va bien. bonne chance |

Vous habitez d'ou is not correct at all ,the "d'ou"is actually what is wrong,it translates as from where do you live instead of where do you live, I know d use of ç in merci was wrong,I was in hurry to post and answer the door that I didn't proof read before posting anyway it's good you noticed,You'll need a french keyboard (clavier AZERTY) if you want to type with accent. Good night! |
