Keeping with security, reports indicate that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) plans to introduce lawful interception (L1), a legally sanctioned official access to private communications such as telephone calls, e-mail messages, all in a bid to enhance national security.

Apparently, this is a move to aid security agencies access information that would increase their success in stopping terrorism and crime.

However, many see this as an infringement of personal freedoms and privacy. Also it is seen that this level of access to individual information can be abused.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Welcome development to curb terror and crime?
Or a time-bomb of abuse waiting to occur and can it be used to silence dissent?

It's good for security but like we all know, such thing will be politicized in Nigeria. Instead of using for the good of the masses, it would be used as a form of witch-haunting. Plus, do you think the lines of all those big men would be intercepted?
