2013 So Far by orlaryhincah(m): 11:49am On Feb 04, 2013
The year 2012 is one year that will linger on in the memories of entertainers and the entertained for a long time coming, as it was fun-filled with all sorts of excitements, intrigue and its own fair share of suspense. It was a year that saw the evolution of several new acts and the end of a couple.

As fun-filled as 2012 was, 2013 seems to be another year with a lot of expectations, intrigue and suspense in the entertainment scene more especially in the music factory, as obviously with just 30 days gone in the year, several activities worthy of note have occurred. In the past 30 days, several activities have taken place and here are 13 of them indeed worthy of note. They
have indeed made our 2013 interesting.

Mr Olu Maintain hypnotized us with a feature with the diva Olivia and Big A. Mr Olu is a man not always present in the big screens, but when he is around, he makes and leaves his mark. The early days of 2013 saw him drop the track HYPNOTIZE featuring the international diva of G- Unit, Olivia and Big A. this is another song that has further placed the Nigeria music factory on the global and international platform.

The month of January has also saw a couple breakups already. Flowsickk broke up with his record label Kollertune and so did the group L.O.S with Bankhead Entertainment in a circumstance they call a mutual understanding. Flowsickk who is getting prominent in the music scene got into the media this year with news about the break up with his former record label. Also did the news of the Bad Guy P Crooners L.O.S breakup with Bankhead entertainment hit the media not long ago. 2012 saw a lot of breakups, with the look of things, 2013 is bound to witness more.

January 2013 has seen the act Reminisce improve tremendously. I’ll rather say that the diss of vector on him has only done more good to his career. At first the diss hindered his career, but Reminisce was able to come back strong dropping the video to his IF ONLY towards the end of last year, 2mussh remix ft. Sinzu and Iceprince. His feature on INDUSTREET by Olamide is also remarkable. This year has seen Reminisce bless our screens with the video to his 2mussh hit single and a Nigboro freestyle. In my opinion, more should be expected from this dude. I hope he doesn’t disappoint.

The music factory has also experienced fatherhood although out of wedlock. The duo of Peter of P Square and Mr. May D became fathers in the month of January. While peter was blessed with a lovely princess, Mr. May D was blessed with a prince. Now one can see one of the many reasons why it did not work very well between them. May D really wants to be P square overnight.

The Nigerian Broadcasting Cooperation NBC ban on some videos did not come as a shocker as this is usually a tradition after a music video has done well in the media. When the news about the ban on some music videos got into the media, it only made these videos more popular and people wanted to watch to see why it was indeed banned. In my opinion, this tradition will not curb artistes and video directors alike from making ‘erotic’ videos. I bet we will still have a couple videos before the end of the year that will gain popularity from this tradition.

The Marvin crew which constitute a majority of the remnants of the defunct Mohits Records recently hit us with the kick. Wande coal of the Marvins featured Don Jazzy on the track THE KICK. The song upon release became an instant hit as it gave us our WC back. The beat is topnotch from the big man Don Jazzy, the original producer. This is a song set to rock 2013 and obviously more should be expected from the original black diamond.

Wizkid was caught on camera in London with international act Tinie Tempah sometimes in January. The superstar Wizzy who has been disturbed London in a while was caught in the gym with Tinie trying to acquire his own set of 6 packs. Another one for the ladies. This young man who has been around the world just in a couple of years will not stop. He also promised to drop us a mix tape come April.

How bliss! When the news of the rumored P square break up hit the media, I only laughed and tried to imagine a music video with only Paul singing and another with Peter dancing. It seemed so funny in my head. It just seemed mission impossible. P square A break up How funny! These people have not only come a long way, they are twin brothers and run family business, and differences would have been settled in the family house.

Just a couple days ago, Morell dropped a track ANTISOCIAL which also became an instant hit. The song which has Olamide on it has ever since been making several mix tapes since it dropped in the media. This song is a very good one from Morell. Very interesting lines on a good beat. Kudos to this young man.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde tweeted a pics of herself in the studios with the international act Bobby Valentino. Although Bobby V. hasn’t been in the headlines for a while, he remains an international achiever. Rumour has it that the duo of Omotola and Bobby got something cooking in the studio what more can be said,

Nigeria entertainment is going global. Just for the sake of a video shoot, Timaya converted his Benz G wagon Jeep into a Lagos state coloured taxi. Mhen! That’s someone dream car. I really cannot wait to see this video, it must really mean a whole lot to Timaya for him to have gone this extra mile.

Iceprince Zamani started the year 2013 on a good note with a remix to his hit song Aboki. Iceprince did not fall short of expectation when he featured Sarkodie, Wizkid, MI, Khuli Chana, a line from the actress soon to be singer made her fall into the feature list. The original version of the Aboki track which did not make instant hit on release in 2012 later became a song of the year, and not less is expected of this remix too.

As January was about to come to an end, K switch of db records dropped the video to his SISTER CARO song on which he featured his brother D’banj. In my view and opinion, that video falls short of all expectations to a SISTER CARO that did well on clubs and parties. The supposed comic character even made it more boring to watch. Although it had the usual ‘erotic’ dancers towards the end, it still did not make it one of the videos to grace our screens in January 2013.
