The suspects involved in the murder of Cynthia Osokogwu have pleaded guilty to the six-count charge brought against them.
All moves by the defence team to stall the trial were frustrated by presiding justice Olabisi Akinlade of the Lagos high court, Ikeja, who promptly took the testimony of the first prosecution witness after the arraignment of the four suspects in the case.

The late Cynthia died after she was poisoned, raped and strangulated to death by two of the men, Okwumo Nwabufo and Ezike Olisaeloka. The court has, however, granted bail to the 3rd and 4th defendants in the case, while the 1st&2nd who actually committed the offence of murder are still remanded at the Kirikiri prison in Lagos. The trial continues on the 22nd of February.

Wat a stu.pid country. 3rd and 4th person granted bail, say waitin happen. Just becos dey were not at the scene of the gruesome murder don't mean they are not guilty of the crime. In English law they are secondary participant to the crime committed and incohate offence refers to them as party to the conspiracy to ra.pe and murder.

Those men should be rearrested immediately. They are not innocent. In fact all four deserve to be buried alive next to the lady dey murdered some months back. angry

Are you OK at all? The guys foolishly sold prescription drugs to the murderers. They had no knowledge of what it was going to be used for. If na your family member, na so you go talk? They are guilty of pharmaceutical malpractice. Not murder. I assume you are not aware of the facts of the case. If you are, then something must really be wrong with you.

Something is wrong with this report. They pleaded GUILTY, but two were granted bail? I think the reporter meant to say NOT GUILTY. You cant plead guilty, and then be granted bail.

My thought exactly, why is the case still going to trial since suspects have pleaded guilt? Unless the writer thinks that sentencing and trial are the same?

Who murdered? Do you have comprehension skills at all? The Pharmacists 'involvement' does not go beyond selling the drugs to the REAL murderers. The don't know the guys...they have never met the guys before. Nigerians buy 'sleeping tablets' over the counter all the time. It is wrong, but that is the norm. I'm sure you have bought same without prescription before too, or know someone who has. Since you are a bloodthirsty psycho, why don't we arrest the airline that brought Cynthia to Lagos, as well as the cab man that took her to the hotel, and all the hotel staff. The police are complicating the case by charging the Pharmacists, the court is going to waste valuable time in separating and analyzing the pleas of the Pharmacists asking for dismissal of charges against them.

You want the Judge to imprison two young Pharmacist graduates to life imprisonment or death by hanging because they wrongly sold prescription drugs? Its not going to happen. It's a waste of time and resources. The police is abusing power by charging these guys for murder. They should be charged with a lesser crime that fits their involvement in the matter. I'm sure there are laws against distribution of controlled substances.

I know all that I am explaining is beyond your reasoning capacity, but I'm just doing my best.

It means the 3rd and 4th defendants were not directly involved. I read comment which somebody mentioned the pharmacist involved. Every licensed pharmacist in nigerian must have passed through the pharmacy school which means he had undergone a pharmacy administration as a course and studied the ethics(code of conduct) of the course. Every profession has its own ethics that no one should claim ignorance of. So far he is a licensed pharmacist, under no circumstance should he have violated the rules cos of the prior knowledge of the implication. So the pharmacist has a very strong case to answere cos ignorance is not an excuse for him.

the police don't even have any evidence that the pharmacist in question sold the drugs to the killers

this has been thrashed out on other threads in NL

it was nothing more than a game of entrapment intended to milk the situation for what it was worth

the guy with the funny haircut is an intern for that matter

incoherent article - one has to wonder at the bottom of the barrel types in journalism these days

how does a trial continue when the suspects have pleaded guilty

the last i read, the case against the pharmacists was thrown out

oh well, they probbaly haven't dropped enough - any police issue in nigeria means you have to drop money - the animals in black pray for this sort of thing

The Nigerian police remains one of the most impoverished institutions in the world. Instead of dealing with the real murderers, they are trying to rope innocent people into the entire murder case. Can we ask ourselves simple questions here? Where were the pharmacists when the lady and the guys were arranging their meeting? Do the pharmacists know either the lady or the murderers before? Did the pharmacists tell the guys to murder the lady? For God's sake let's face it,the pharmacists are "INNOCENT" and not "Not guilty".They only sold the drugs to a walk-in customer and nothing more just the same way anyone in their shoes will do .How many people have been charged to court for selling knives, matchets, cutlasses or even guns because the owners of these tools used them to murder their fellow human beings. May the soul of the lady rest in peace and may the murderers never go unpunished

What are the FACTS here. Two Suspects have pleaded GUILTY. Two more were only accessories to the count of murder. The trial will continue, despite the two pleaded guilt. The other two have to be tried as well. The prosecutors will amend their charges relating to the famous drug peddlers. Until the famous drug peddlers are acquitted or discharged of the charges, the guilty two may not be sentenced to hang. Do we want them to hang as the Laws of the federal republic stipulates? GEJ should probably pardon them. However, they may be lynched on release. Either way, pray for them and the family of the departed.
