International Students Still Trooping To The UK ??? by Nobody: 3:20pm On Feb 13, 2013
So could it be true that the cancellation of the Post Study Work Permit scheme hasn't deterred international students from applying to study in the UK? Is it not strange that a country would want your tuition fee, accommodation and living expenses, yet not want to avail you the opportunity to get a decent job and stay back?

I hope Nigerians are not among the new magas. Mods this is a very relevant topic for Nigerians who live in the UK and those who want to go there so please help with the traffic in your usual ways cool

International university student applications on the rise

31 January 2013

Figures released by UCAS show a 9.9 per cent increase in number of students applying to UK universities from China and a 19.3 per cent on those from India.

The figures show that while our reforms of the student visa route have tackled abuse, they have not put students off of coming to study at UK universities.

Immigration Minister Mark Harper said:

'The increase in non-EEA student applications is further proof that the UK remains open to the brightest and the best and international students.

'In particular, numbers from India and China have seen big increases. This shows that despite stories to the contrary, students continue to want to come to the UK to study at our world class universities.

'We have tackled abuse of the student route head on - without affecting genuine students. By protecting the reputation of the British education system will we be able to compete in a global race.'

international students from certain countries arent worried about PSW, considering their own economic growth

some other student see it primarily as an immigration route

the figures will certainly come down in the in the near future; with other european countries offering more courses in English

the UK route still has many thing going for it, language, access to information (pretty straight forward application system); clear consise payment options- a bit like honda with all the complaints mnigerians will still pick it over Audi, peugeot etc

^^^

More like the wealthy Chinese kids and a few Indians of the elite have become targets for the eagle-eye Brits. The number of international students from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria planning to head to the UK continues to dwindle. Oh well, thank goodness there are countries like Australia and Canada. The UK is out of fashion now anyway.

Benefit scroungers and lazy brits have damned the country.
