Owk.. 4 instance when one is asked 2 solve a system of 3 equations in 3 unknowns simultaneously the solution is reducing the system to 2 equations in 2 unknowns by using either the elimination or substitution method[or d rest 3] to get the variables/solution.

View this links to check worked examples..

www.themathpage.com/alg/simultaneous-equations-3.htm

www.idomaths.com/simeq.php

Am able 2 eliminate/subsitute the variables and provide solution if the system of d equation follows the same pattern as the ones above, but the unfortunate thing is the system which I was suggested to solve is somewhat obfuscating, yeah it is 3 equation but it does not have 3 variables, both x and y are present there but nothing like z is specified in the system..

The thing goes as thus:

3x+2y-7=19 ------(1)
4x-y+27=4 --------(2)
2x+4y-52=32 -------(3)

Any1 interested shall please give it a try.

Based onthe examples from the links you posted here is the solution i have come up with

3x+2y-7=19 ------(1)
4x-y+27=4 --------(2)
2x+4y-52=32 -------(3)

first step

3x+2y= 26(19+7)
4x-y = -23(4-27)
2x+4y= 84(52+32)

Step 2
Multiple equation 2 by "2" and the resulting equation is a prime..So ..
8x-2y= -46

So the equations are now thus ..
3x+2y=26 (1)
8x-2y= -46 (2)
2x+4y=84 (3)

Add equation 1& 2

11x = -20(-46+26) *+2y-2y=0
x = -31

Go back to first step equation and substitute x as -31 to solve for Y

happy days!
* cross check the calculations to make sure i didnt make a mistake, I am not using a calculator

for the maths guys in te house if I am wrong abeg no yab me, na philosophy I study grin

Ehm.. funky dude/lady, i really appreciate your contribution and the time you take to deliniate, however the last part of your work in getting the x value doesnt necessarily have to do with making x the subject of the formula, it is more like dividing both sides by the coefficient of x i think.. Anyway i tried this method severally but the results i get doesnt correspond with that specified in the text book.. Thank u oncemore.

It was suggested that i shall solve 24 different questions of this equation. Please participate, get rid of the procrastination and do something. Or u want your boy to be a companion of fiasco? undecided

@funky, lol.. What a coincidence! Do you know that the link you gave has redirected me back to square 1? The need of creating this thread arise when i didnt understand how the author of that pdf file get solution for those variables, all the three equations in question look very peculiar and instead of the author to specify how he magically get 10z in equation (4) he choose to just write and leave it there like a dictator for us to work it out and find..

Nb:
that 10z thing is suppose to be 109z as far as honesty is concerned, it is either he use anoda method which i do not know of or it is an issue of typographic error, whichever way it is this thing really tyrannize me.
