Recently, I heard from students both in the Part Time and Regular programmes of RSUST complaining about the recent rumour lingering about in the school. This rumour is that the VC of the school decided that those students who were not opportuned to pay their school fees for the last session should be faced with the penalty of having an automatic extra year. This implies that for those who did not pay their school fees, their efforts have been wasted as a result of this fact and that does not include whether that student has carryovers or not! My question now is... wouldn't it have been better for the VC to double the school fee as a penalty rather than giving an extra year? Why attach this to the part time program at all cos I believe that, since the part time program is about to be phased out and right from the onset in the school, you can be coming to school even if u dont have money for school fees but will have to clear your debts before collecting your certificate, why not increase the unpaid fee as a penalty to the students rather than adding an extra 365 days burden on people who are praying that God should see them through so that they start to live and earn salaries?
