You can read the whole advert here or visit this link http://www.mict.dk/ Master in Information and Communication Technologies, mICT The Master in Information and Communication Technologies (mICT), is an international Master's program at Aalborg University designed for you who work in the ICT industry and want to keep your job while you are participating in a Master's program. The courses are mainly given in the evening and during weekends. Program Aim The aim of the Master's program in Information and Communication Technologies (mICT) is to give the participants cross-disciplinary qualifications within the key areas related to information and communication technologies. The cross-disciplinary profile addresses the growing need for engineers who can combine knowledge from different areas: Internet, Communication and Broadcast Technologies and Converging Media Services and Platforms Development of User-friendly Applications, Solutions And ServicesBusiness Development and Business Models Security, Trust, Privacy; Legal and Ethical Aspects Organizational aspects of ICT. Teaching Form The mICT program is taught as project organized problem-based learning (PBL), extensively using IT supported distance education tools. This means that the program consists of Interactive courses with web-based support Face-to-face courses at seminars Courses, project work information, dialogue with teachers, dialogue with fellow students, etc. based on distance learning tools. Almost half of the course content is project work and the other half is courses. The program is offered in English. Admission In order to be admitted to the mICT program, you must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science (or equivalent qualifications) and at least 2 years of relevant work experience in the industry obtained after your degree. Moreover, you must have a good command of English, which at least must be equivalant to English level B (Danish high school level) or one of the minimum test scores from e.g. the TOEFL or IELTS tests that you can read more about here. Credit Transfer Aalborg University can in each individual case approve that study elements from a Danish or a foreign advanced education substitute the study elements that are included in the Master of Information and Communication Techonologies study scheme. The decision will be made on the basis of a professional assessment of this equivalence of the involved study elements. 20 student places are available. Structure of the Program The mICT program carries 60 ECTS points, which is equvalent to one year full-time studies. The program is offered both as a one-year full-time study and as a two-years part-time study. The program is divided into three trimesters. The duration of a trimester in the full-time (one year) version of the education is 4 months and in the part-time (two years) version 8 months. Through the program three main academic areas are covered: Networks and services Design and users Market and regulation Each trimester focuses on one of the main disciplines. In addition, a 'general academic area' is defined, which includes courses of general/methodical nature. Trimester 1: ICT Services and Platforms The purpose of the 1st trimester is to give students a basic understanding of the technologies behind networks and systems, as well as to give an understanding of the service architectures, platforms and business models that are needed to provide future services and applications. Courses: PBL and Research Methods Communication and Broadcast Networks Internet Technologies and Service Architectures Market and Business Models Project title examples: Network Architecture based on combination of WiFi and WiMAX Deploying Mobile Internet services, on 3G and beyond Comparative Analysis of QoS in MPLS and IPv6 for multimedia services Next Generation Networks (NGN) Trimester 2: ICT Applications Development The purpose of the second trimester is to make the students capable of exploring and applying the potential of ICT to address a wide variety of user and organizational needs. This is realized by analyzing, designing, implementing and testing applications and services that can be deployed on ICT platforms and infrastructures. The technical development process is carried out with a constant focus on target users, usage scenarios, stakeholders and business aspects to ensure the validity of approaches. Courses: Requirement Specification Application Security and Identity Management Development of ICT and Media Services Interaction Design Creativity and ICT design Project title examples: Mobile payment Implementing a Data Collection System To Improve Content Delivery for DVB-H House electronics’ control on Mobile Phone Realization of a safety alarm system on mobile phone Intelligent refrigerator Trimester 3: Master's Thesis The purpose of the third trimester is to document that the students individually or in small groups can plan and finalize a project at a high technological level. The final thesis shall document the student’s ability to apply scientific theories and methods at a high level. Courses: ICT Managerial Economics Standardization Markets and Regulation Project title examples: The role of foreign investments in the Ghanaian telecom sector Stimulation of growth in broadband and Internet access in different regions Business models for ICT services International roaming Spectrum management: Will Spectrum promote competition?
