Yolks are high in cholesterol, but a recent study shows that regular consumption of eggs does not affect all general blood cholesterol levels, while another stated that these foods increase the levels of good cholesterol, which results protecting the heart.

This may cause confusion, but the medical community show that dietary cholesterol should not be confused with the blood, which is associated with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

"There are bigger problems in terms of food American diet than cholesterol," says Drew Ramsey, a professor at Columbia University psychiatrist who studies the links between lifestyle and mental health. "There is evidence to suggest that the first among concerns about food choices must be cholesterol. Everybody agrees with this: diabetes and obesity are caused by excessive consumption of processed foods," says Ramsey.

Here are seven of the most important benefits of eating egg yolks (or whole eggs)
Eyes - yolk contains lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids associated with a reduced risk of cataracts and macular degeneration.

Heart - regular consumption of eggs (one per day) helps reduce the risk of blood clots and stroke and of stroke production.

Brain - yolk, although rich in cholesterol, bring great benefits on overall health, among them being the fact that it contains high levels of choline (vitamin B7), which helps to improve neurological function, reduce inflammation in the body, the stage of brain development in utero (consumed by pregnant women) and the production of serotonin and dopamine, known as the hormone of happiness.

Boobs - choline in the yolk helps to prevent breast cancer, according to some studies, especially if regular consumption of eggs began in adolescence. Other studies have established an association between egg consumption and a lower rate of

breast cancer, but with an indication: the consumption of up to two eggs per week is associated with a lower risk of breast cancer, while consumption of seven eggs per week contributing to this increased risk.

Hair, nails, skin - eggs are rich in sulfur, an essential ingredient for the absorption of B vitamins, useful to a better functioning of the liver, but also for the production of collagen and keratin, which helps maintain healthy skin, nails and hair, giving extra shine .

Developing muscles - six grams of protein per egg, along with amino acids contain eggs are a perfect choice to encourage muscle development.

Maintaining an optimal weight - several studies have shown that regular consumption of eggs for breakfast helps fight excess weight. People who ate eggs for breakfast for 8 weeks showed a 61% reduction in body mass index (BMI) than those who consumed a seat at this table with the same calorie content. BMI is obtained by dividing the weight (in kilograms) by the square of height (in meters).
