To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord - Luke 4:19

Among other purposes, Jesus also came to proclaim the acceptable year of God to the expectant. He came as an embodiment of answers to the questions, prayers and petitions of many across different ages as well as from diverse races and walks of life. He came to fulfil the hope and meet the expectations of the faithful.

Perhaps, you are wondering what the acceptable year of the Lord means. It is explained in the Scripture: Thus says the Lord: “In an acceptable time I have heard You, and in the day of salvation I have helped You; I will preserve You and give You as a covenant to the people, to restore the earth, to cause them to inherit the desolate heritages. The acceptable year is the period that God answers the prayers and petitions of His children. It is the hour of help and relief. It is that time of refreshing that erodes the memories of many years of suffering and deprivation; it is the moment of dramatic turnaround from a negative, unsavoury spell to a pleasant run. There are many more ways to describe the acceptable year of the Lord based on individual situation. Whatever it is, Jesus came to declare that much sought moment to you; and the fact that He had ascended to heaven some 1,983 years ago does not mean that all hopes ended then. He left us with witnesses to continue the good work; and we have some of them around today.

The people who are commissioned with this purpose are usually prophetic; their utterances are backed with divine power such that their words do not fall to the ground. It is not a calling one fulfils by mere positive confession or psyching of hearers. It takes a lot of personal sacrifices and inconveniences to sustain this mandate. It is a calling that makes one prominent; one cannot be fulfilling it and remain unknown.
