Sporting Lisbon youngster Tiago Ilori has been named best young player of the month of March by the Union of Professional Footballers (SJPF). The 20 - year - old Portugal youth - teamer started the season in the B Team but was quickly drafted into the main squad following a string of sterling displays. According to Union of Professional Footballers official website, www.sjpf.pt , Ilori got 25.1 percent of the votes cast. Amido Balde (Guimaraes), Tiago Rodrigues (Guimaraes) and Hannibal Chapel (Moreirense) were ranked second, third and fourth respectively. The finalists for the award were picked by Portugal's most respected journalists from A Bola, Record and O jogo. ............................................ Tiago Abiola Delfim Almeida Ilori (born 26 February 1993) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Sporting Clube de Portugal B as a central defender . Football career Born in London, England to an English father of Nigerian descent and a Portuguese mother, Ilori joined Sporting Clube de Portugal 's youth ranks in the 2006 summer as a striker , signing from Imortal Desportivo Clube . For 2007–08 the 14-year-old was loaned to Lisbon neighbours G.D. Estoril Praia , returning for three more seasons and already reconverted as a stopper.[1] On 6 November 2011 Ilori made his official debut for the Lions' first team, playing the full 90 minutes in a 3–1 league home win against U.D. Leiria.[2] On 14 December he played his first game in the UEFA Europa League , starting in a 0–2 group stage loss to S.S. Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, as his team had already secured the first place in its group.[3] In only his fourth official appearance for Sporting, on 16 February 2013 at Gil Vicente FC , Ilori again played the entire match, and helped to a 3–2 success by scoring his team's second goal in the 6th minute.[4]

According to leaks gathered by allnigeriasoccer.com 's Editorial staff, Italian heavyweights Fiorentina have offered the highly rated Nigerian teenager Theophilus Solomon a three - year contract. Solomon, born on January 18, 1996, has been tipped to be Nigeria's biggest football icon in no distant time and is being likened to Real Madrid of Spain and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo. Under the terms of the contract proposed by the Fiorentina hierarchy, Theophilus Solomon will join the Serie A club when he turns 18 in January 2014. Standard Liege's Imoh Ezekiel has told Belgian media that he will apply for Belgian citizenship to enable him play for the Red Devils. According to authoritative Belgian website dhnet.be , 19 - year - old Ezekiel received an invitation from coach John Obuh to participate at the African Youth Championship held in Algeria last month. But he snubbed Obuh's advances and is unlikely to answer his call to feature at the Fifa Under 20s in Turkey this coming summer.
