Yes, its true what most people have said about Ibeno beach. It is at most times dirty, the road leading to the beach (a federal road) is very bad and is only lively on Sundays. The local community seem but be a stumbling block to necessary development by private sector even as government does not have an interest in the beach development. I hear rehabilitation contract has been awarded by the FG. Its still a nice place to be on sundays if you are an outdoor type, like me. See my wet feet on one of my visits below. 2 Likes

adanny01: I disagree with your assessment. You probably havent been at the beach recently. be truthful and tell us, when was the last time you visited the beach? the road from eket to Ibeno and etinan to eket a federal road that had been abandoned for ages, Has currently been taken over by the state government and dualization of that road is ongoing by CCECC as we speak. And can you expatiate on how the community has hindered the beach development? did you legally try to setup a business there or know someone that had the desire but was turned down? dont deal on cliches, support your statement with fact/evidence. 3 Likes |

Atouke: Afo, i have not been to the beach in 3 months but have been to Eket, Etinan, Abak, Ikot Abasi, Ikot Ekpene and Itu every other week up till 2weeks ago when i took annual leave. CCECC have been working on Etinan-Eket rd since last year, have they been working on Eket-Ibeno rd? Probably in the past 3months, can the road be now considered as good? I did mention my knowledge of the fact that it was awarded. You and i know there is no govt presence in that beach, atleast cleaners not to talk of infrastructures. With a beautiful beach like that, why is it that the closest reasonable hotel is still far away in Eket? Why are there no recreational facilities except for drinking, suya and food stalls that function mostly on Sundays only? I am privy to a contract by FG in Eket to the tune of N2Billion, after govt had spent over 1billon the project was cancelled because the bill for compensation was over 3 times the cost of the project at over N6Billion. Who is the real loser? I once hosted a Minister to a project site, while responding to the Minister's inquiry on our challenges, i mentioned as the sole challenge, the communities. You need to see what happened to me, the NTA camera man was 1st of all ordered to turn off his camera, before the Minister and his aids descended on me and forbade me ever to mention communities as a challenge. The reason for the story is my lack of understanding why you people are so quick to defend actions of communities that inhibit develolment? If you have no idea what is obtainable in other places in Nigeria in contrast to your state or region, you need to keep quiet. I have first hand experience. If you want facts, you are not getting from me cause i have no reason to give and I have no reason to lie either. 1 Like |

adanny01: which minister did you host and on which project? If you are telling the truth, bare it all out so we can all hear!Otherwise stop making unsubstantiated claims. Ibeno is a nice peaceful communities that is welcoming to any legal investment that will benefit its communities. If your investment is legitimate and does not involve infringing on the locals who are very aware of their rights you should have no objections in getting approvals. FYI its not the place for govt to do everything. |

Are these not the same people in the beach cleaning picture I posted for which I was called a liar repeatedly by abes abes: It feels good to be vindicated even if na 1/3rd. Atouke: Ufan mi, like i said before, i owe you no explanation or further details. If you wish, call me a liar. What i have seen, heard and the threats to my life were personal or official experiences which i am not willing to share on this forum. Just like you said, Ibeno is a nice place, i visited it so many times to catch fun with friends and family. Like any other place, there are downsides and that is what i have mentioned. In several occasions, i found it hard to walk bare footed from where i parked without feeling like am walking on dirt. You talk about getting approvals like its the only thing you have to do to invest in a community. Once again, if you have no experience you need to keep quiet. Your last line is way off. That beach if you don't know is a public natural recreational site which the government must maintain or develop. Our government is blinded by oil money that's why these little tourist sites are not converted to revenue generating source of the government. 2 Likes |
